Abstract

The application discloses a bag-in-box connector comprising a housing 10, popper 24 and external valve 44. The housing comprises a flange 14 with three cylindrical collars extending there from (16, 20 & 26). The second and third collar (20 & 26) are coaxial and extend from the same side of the flange. The flange further comprises a central bore 38 and at least one flow aperture 22 bounded by the wall of the third collar. The popper comprises a pin 36 that is able to move longitudinally with respect to the housing via the central bore. The popper further comprises a foot 30 or ledge for engaging with the distal end 32 of the third collar to form a leak-proof seal. Preferably the external valve is a single component of thermoplastic elastomer material TPE and is attached to the distal end of the pin. The external valve may comprise a diaphragm portion 46 and house the distal portion of the pin in a cavity (52, figure 3). Preferably, there are a plurality of flow apertures located around the central bore. The popper may comprise a frusto-conical portion 40 with a step 42. The third collar may also be tapered.
