Abstract

The present disclosure provides a bottle having a support strap 22 connected to two or more attachment point 16 at the top of the bottle to provide an ergonomic way of picking up and transporting the bottle regardless of the level of liquid inside. The bottle may also have a handle formed out of the bottle body. The attachment points may be formed as loops that are moulded into the outer surface of the bottle and attachment elements 24 of the support strap may be hooks that lock around the loops.

Description

Title: Large Capacity Bottle Having A Support Strap Field of Invention.
The present invention relates generally to the field of liquid containers. More specifically, the present invention relates to a bottle having a support strap for use by athletes.
Background
Adequate hydration is pivotal to the performance of athletes, as well as being highly beneficial for health and concentration of any individual. It is thus desirable to have a large capacity bottle, however when full such bottles are heavy so it is desirable to have multiple ergonomic ways of carrying such bottles. It is within this context that the present invention is provided.
Summary
The present disclosure provides a bottle having a support strap connected to two or more attachment point at the top of the bottle to provide an ergonomic way of picking up and transporting the bottle regardless of the level of liquid inside.
Thus, according to an aspect of the present invention there is provided a bottle for storing liquid, the bottle comprising: a hollow container having a flattened bottom end, a middle portion, and an opposing top end, the top end having an opening and at least two attachment points set into the outer surface thereof on opposing sides of the opening; a cap element configured to form a watertight seal over the opening of the container; and a support strap having a first end and a second end, the first and second ends of the strap each having an attachment element configured to attach to one of the two attachment points.
In some embodiments, the middle portion of the hollow container is shaped into a handle.
The cap element may be a screw cap and the opening of the hollow container is then a threaded protrusion configured to receive the screw cap.
The hollow container may have inscribed upon the outer surface a plurality of marks at regular intervals along the length of the bottle between the bottom end and the top end, each mark indicating a time of day by which a user should have consumed liquid from the bottle such that the liquid level is in line with the mark.
In some embodiments, the hollow container is formed from plastic. The plastic may be free from Bisphenol compounds.
In some embodiments, the volume formed by the hollow container is sized to contain a maximum of 3.8 litres of liquid or more.
The attachment points may be in the form of loops moulded into the outer surface of the hollow container. Further, the attachment elements of the support strap may be detachable hooks for locking around the loops.
Brief Description of the Drawings
Various embodiments of the invention are disclosed in the following detailed description and accompanying drawings.
FIG.1 illustrates an example configuration of the bottle of the present disclosure shown from a first front side and without the support strap attached.
FIG.2 illustrates an example configuration of the bottle of the present disclosure viewed from the opposing back side and with the support strap attached.
Common reference numerals are used throughout the figures and the detailed description to indicate like elements. One skilled in the art will readily recognize that the above figures are examples and that other architectures, modes of operation, orders of operation, and elements/functions can be provided and implemented without departing from the characteristics and features of the invention, as set forth in the claims.
Detailed Description and Preferred Embodiment
The following is a detailed description of exemplary embodiments to illustrate the principles of the invention. The embodiments are provided to illustrate aspects of the invention, but the invention is not limited to any embodiment. The scope of the invention encompasses numerous alternatives, modifications and equivalent; it is limited only by the claims.
Numerous specific details are set forth in the following description in order to provide a thorough understanding of the invention. However, the invention may be practiced according to the claims without some or all of these specific details. For the purpose of clarity, technical material that is known in the technical fields related to the invention has not been described in detail so that the invention is not unnecessarily obscured.
The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting of the invention. As used herein, the term "and/or" includes any combinations of one or more of the associated listed items. As used herein, the singular forms "a," "an," and "the" are intended to include the plural forms as well as the singular forms, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It will be further understood that the terms "comprises" and/or "comprising," when used in this specification, specify the presence of stated features, steps, operations, elements, and/or components, but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, steps, operations, elements, components, and/or groups thereof.
Referring to FIG.1, an example configuration of the bottle 2 of the present disclosure is shown from a first front side and without the support strap attached.
As shown, the bottle 2 has a main body 4 in the form of a hollow container with a bottom end 6, a middle portion 8, and a top end 10. The bottom end 6 is flattened so that the bottle will remain in an upright position when placed on a flat surface. The top end 10 has a standard bottle opening 12 which can be sealed and unsealed using a cap element 14. In the present example a wide screw cap design with a threaded lip around the opening is used, however a person skilled in the art reading the present disclosure will recognise that any suitable form of bottle opening can be used with the present invention.
The main body further comprises at least two attachment points 16 for the support strap (see FIG.2) to be connected across. These attachment points are always located at the top end 10 of the hollow container to provide a more ergonomic carrying experience for the user. In the present example the attachment points are in the form of plastic loops moulded into the outer surface of the bottle body, however many different types of attachment mechanisms could be used.
In a preferred embodiment, the bottle is designed with a wide grip handle 18 moulded into the middle portion 8 of the bottle body to provide an alternative ergonomic way of carrying or holding the bottle, this is particularly convenient when the bottle is at its heaviest when carrying maximum capacity of liquid. It is anticipated that a suitable capacity for the bottle will be one gallon or 3.8 litres, however smaller and larger volumes can also be used.
Another beneficial feature that may be included with the bottle of the present disclosure to improve everyday usage is to have inscribed upon the outer surface a plurality of marks 20 at regular intervals along the length of the bottle between the bottom end and the top end, each mark indicating a time of day by which a user should have consumed liquid from the bottle such that the liquid level is in line with the mark.
The bottle should be made of material in line with food industry standards and, in a preferred embodiment, is made of plastic which is free of bisphenol compounds to avoid the associated negative health effects of long term usage of such compounds.
Referring to FIG.2, a second view of the bottle of the present disclosure is shown viewed from the opposing back side and with the support strap 22 attached.
As shown, the support strap has at each end an attachment element 24 configured to secure each end of the support strap to a respective attachment point on the top end of the bottle. In the present example detachable hooks are used as the attachment elements, however as mentioned above, any suitable type of attachment mechanism may be used.
The support strap may be constructed of any flexible but durable material. In the present example the support strap is made of plastic.
Unless otherwise defined, all terms (including technical terms) used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood by one having ordinary skill in the art to which this invention belongs. It will be further understood that terms, such as those defined in commonly used dictionaries, should be interpreted as having a meaning that is consistent with their meaning in the context of the relevant art and the present disclosure and will not be interpreted in an idealized or overly formal sense unless expressly so defined herein.
The disclosed embodiments are illustrative, not restrictive. While specific configurations of the water bottle have been described in a specific manner referring to the illustrated embodiments, it is understood that the present invention can be applied to a wide variety of solutions which fit within the scope and spirit of the claims. There are many alternative ways of implementing the invention.
It is to be understood that the embodiments of the invention herein described are merely illustrative of the application of the principles of the invention. Reference herein to details of the illustrated embodiments is not intended to limit the scope of the claims, which themselves recite those features regarded as essential to the invention.
