Description

FIX TOOL FOR BRAKE CALIPER
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention:
The present invention relates to vehicle maintenance tools, and more particularly, to a fix tool for brake clamp maintenance.
2. Description of the Related Art:
A brake caliper is a brake member disposed on the brake disc. When the vehicle is to brake, a master wheel cylinder is applied for sending the brake fluid to the brake caliper for pushing the piston of the brake caliper, whereby the piston pushes the brake lining to contact the brake disc for generating friction, achieving the braking effect. After a period of usage, the brake caliper has to undergo maintenance, in which the brake caliper is removed from the brake disc.
In the maintenance process of the brake caliper, the user has to cast a relatively larger force. For example, during the replacement of the brake lining, a forcing tool is applied in a rotation manner for pushing the piston into the brake caliper. In such operation, if the brake caliper is gripped by bare hands of the user, the user may face difficulty when imposing the force. Therefore, the user usually applies a vise for fixing the brake caliper before carrying out the maintenance operation.
However, the brake caliper may be accidentally damaged by the vise. Thus, it is desirable to resolve such issue for the industry.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
For improving the issues above a fix to& for brake caliper is disclosed. By use of the connection rods of the fix tool passing through the through holes originally provided on the brake for screws the shaft of the fix tool is able to fix the brake caliper at a certain position.
For achieving the aforementioned objectives, a fix tool for brake caliper is provided, wherein the brake caliper comprises a plurality of through holes for screws to pass therethrough. The fix tool comprises a shaft and a plurality of connection rods. The shaft has a predetermined length. The connection rods are disposed on the shaft and arranged in perpendicular to the shaft. The connection rods are applied for passing through and positioned in the through holes. Therefore, during the maintenance of the brake caliper, the shaft is positioned against the brake caliper with the assistance of the connection rods.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the shaft comprises a plurality of slide members, such that the connection rods are correspondingly combined with the slide members. Each slide member is allowed to move in the length direction of the shaft and positioned on the shaft, so that the distance between the connection rods is adjustable according to the interval between the through holes.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the shaft comprises a trench on one side thereof. The trench is formed in a straight line and disposed along the length direction of the shaft. Each slide member comprises a restrain member disposed corresponding to the trench, such that the restrain member is inserted into the trench, thereby limiting the slide member from biasing with respect to the shaft, and also positioning the slide member on the shaft after movement.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the restrain member is a bolt. The bolt comprises a rod portion having a thread and a head portion disposed on one end of the rod portion. Each slide member comprises a thread bore in alignment with the trance. The user grips the head portion for rotating the thread of the rod portion through the thread bore into the trench, such that the slide member is allowed to move along the length direction of the shaft and unable to bias with respect to the shaft. Then, the head portion is applied for continuously driving the rod portion until the distal end of the rod portion abuts against the bottom portion of the trench, whereby the slide member is fixed on the shaft.
In an embodiment of the present invention, each slide member comprises in insertion bore disposed on one side thereof in opposite to the restrain member, with a block member disposed in adjacent to the insertion bore. Each connection rod is correspondingly inserted into the insertion bore, so as to be blocked by the block member and prevented from detachment from the insertion into which the connection rod is inserted.
In an embodiment of the present invention, each block member comprises a block rod. Each slide member comprises a receive hole for receiving the block rod. The insertion bore and the receive hole of the slide member are arranged in perpendicular. Therefore, the block rod is able to keep the connection rod in the insertion bore into which the connection rod is inserted, or leave the connection rod for allowing the connection rod to be separated from the insertion bore.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the block rod comprises a middle section, with a press section and a block section disposed on two ends of the middle section. The receive hole comprises a large diameter bore for receiving the press section and a small diameter bore for receiving the block section, wherein the middle is placed between the large diameter bore and the small diameter bore, with the diameter difference of the between the large diameter bore and the small diameter bore forming a grade portion therebetween. A compression elastic member is received in the large diameter bore, with one end of the compression elastic member abutting against one end of the grade portion, and the other end of the compression elastic member abutting against the press section, such that the block rod is allowed to be elastically restored to the original position after being pressed. The block section comprises a retain member. The press section and the retain member retains the block rod in the receive hole. Each connection rod comprises a contraction section positioned in the insertion bore. When the press section of the block rod is permanently pushed by the compression elastic member, the block section blocks the connection rod by the contraction section; when the press section is pressed for compressing the compression elastic member, the block section leaves the contraction section, so that the middle section is allowed to pass for detaching the connection rod from the insertion bore. In an embodiment of the present invention, the shaft 15 comprises a handle disposed on one end thereof and a block portion disposed on the other end away from the handle, with the trench disposed between the handle and the block portion, such that the handle and the block portion prevent each slide member from leaving the shaft.
In an embodiment of the present invention, each connection rod comprises a tapering conic section, whose narrow section is connected with an insertion section, such that the connection rod passes through the through hole with the insertion section.
With such configuration, during the maintenance of the brake caliper, the connection rods pass through the through holes of the brake caliper for achieving a positioning function. When the user imposes a force for carrying out the maintenance operation of the brake caliper, with the shaft being held by the user, the brake caliper is fixed by the connection rods in the through holes, facilitating the force imposing process of the user and preventing accidental clamping damage on the brake caliper.
Also, the connection rods are able to move along the length direction of the shaft. During maintenance of brake calipers of various specifications having different interval distances between the through holes thereof, the distance between the connection rods is adjustable based on the interval distance between the through holes of the brake caliper. Also, the connection rods are detachable and allowed to be replaced by
S
other connection rods having different length. Thus, the present invention is applicable to various brake calipers with different specifications.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The aforementioned and further advantages and features of the present invention will be understood by reference to the description of the preferred embodiment in conjunction with the accompanying drawings where the components are illustrated based on a proportion for explanation but not subject to the actual component proportion.
Referring to Fig. 1 to Fig. 7, a fix tool 100 for brake caliper is provided. In an embodiment of the present invention, a brake caliper 200 for car is taken as the application example. However, the present invention is not limited to the certain embodiment. The brake caliper 200 in the embodiment comprises two through holes 201 (as shown by Fig. 7), mainly for screws to pass therethrough, whereby the brake disc of the car is fastened (not shown).
The fix tool 100 comprises a shaft 10, and the shaft 10 comprises two connection rods 20 corresponding to the two through holes 201 in the embodiment.
The shaft 10 has a predetermined length. The two connection rods 20 are disposed on the shaft 10 and arranged in perpendicular to the shaft 10. In the embodiment, two slide members 30 are disposed on the shaft 10 and able to move toward or away from each other along the length direction of the shaft 10, so as to be positioned at a certain position on the shaft 10. The connection rods 20 are combined with the two slide members 30, respectively, such that the distance between the two connection rods 20 is adjusted through the two slide members 30 corresponding to the interval distance between the two through holes 201.
Preferably, the shaft 10 comprises a trench 11 disposed on one side thereof and formed in a straight line along the length direction of the shaft 10. Each slide member 30 comprises a restrain member 31 corresponding to the trench 11, such that the restrain member 31 is inserted into the trench 11 for limiting the slide member 30 from biasing with respect to the shaft 10. Also, after moving along the shaft 10, each slide member 30 is position on the shaft 10 by the restrain member 31. In addition, when the two slide member 30 are disposed on the shaft 10, a handle 12 is disposed on one end of the shaft 10, and an block portion 13 is disposed on another end of the shaft 10 in opposite to the handle 12, with the trench 11 positioned between the handle 12 and the block portion 13. The handle 12 and the block portion 13 on two ends of the shaft 10 block the two slide member 30, so that the two slide member 30, even without the restrain members 31, are kept from being detached form the shaft 10. In the embodiment, the block portion 13 refers to a pillar protruding the radial direction of the block portion 13.
The restrain member 31, in the embodiment, is a bolt and comprises a rod portion 311 and a head portion 312, wherein the head potion is disposed on one end of the rod portion 311. The rod portion 311 comprises a thread 313. The slide member 30 disposed on the shaft 10 comprises a thread bore 32 in alignment with the trench 11. The user grips the head portion 312 for rotating the thread 313 of the rod portion 311 through the thread bore 32 into the trench 11, thereby allowing the slide member 30 to move along the length direction of the shaft 10 and preventing the slide member 30 from biasing with respect to the shaft 10. Then, the head portion 312 continuously drives the rod portion 311 to move until the distal end of the rod portion 311 abutting against the bottom portion of the trench 11, whereby the slide member 30 is positioned at the certain position on the shaft 10.
In an embodiment of the present invention, each slide member 30 comprises an insertion bore 33 and a block member 34. The insertion bore 33 is disposed on one side of the slide member 30 in opposite to the restrain member 31, and the block member 34 is disposed in adjacent to the insertion bore 33. Each connection rod 20 is correspondingly inserted into an insertion bore 33 and able to be blocked by the block member 34, such that the connection rod 20 is prevented from leaving the insertion bore 33 into which the connection rod 20 is inserted.
Accordingly, each block member 34 comprises a block rod 35, and each slide member 30 comprises a receive hole 36 for receiving the correspondingly block rod 35. The receive hole 36 and the insertion bore 33 are arranged perpendicular on the slide member 30. The block rod 35 alternatively restrains the corresponding connection rod 20 in the insertion bore 33 or leaves the connection rod 20 blocked for allowing the connection rod 20 to leave the insertion bore 33.
The block rod 35, in the embodiment, comprises a middle section 351, a press section 352, and a block section 353, wherein the press section 352 and the block section 353 are disposed on two ends of the middle section 351. The diameter of the press section 352 is larger than the diameter of the block section 353, and the diameter of the block section 353 is larger than the diameter of the middle section 351. The receive hole 36 comprises a large diameter bore 361 and a small diameter bore 362. The large diameter bore 361 receives the press section 352, and the small diameter bore 362 receives the block section 353. The middle section 351 is placed between the large diameter bore 361 and the small diameter bore 362. A grade portion 363 is formed between the large diameter bore 361 and the small diameter bore 362 by the diameter difference therebetween.
In the embodiment, each block member 34 comprises a compression elastic member 37, which is a compression spring, disposed in the large diameter bore 361, with one end abutting against the grade portion 363 and the other end abutting against the press section 352. The compression elastic member 37, when being compressed, provides an elastic force for the block rod 35 to be elastically restored to the original position. In the embodiment, the block section 353 comprises a retain member 354, which is a C-clamp applied with the press section 352 for restraining the block rod 35 in the receive hole 36.
The connection rod 20 comprises a contraction section 21. When the connection rod 20 is inserted in the insertion bore 33, the contraction section 21 is positioned in the insertion bore 33. When the press section 352 is permanently pushed by the compression elastic member 37, the block section 353 blocks the contraction section 21 of the connection rod 20 (as shown by Fig. 3 and Fig. 4). By pressing the press section 352, the block section 353 leaves the contraction section 21, with the middle section 351 placed in adjacent to the contraction section 21 (as shown by Fig. 5), such that the connection rod 20 is able to pass the middle section 351 having a smaller diameter, whereby the connection rod 20 is pulled out to leave the insertion bore 33 (as shown Fig. 6). At the moment, because the compression elastic member 37 is in a compression status, when the user stops pressing the press section 352, the block rod 35 is pushed to the original position by the pushing motion of the compression elastic member 37 upon the press section 352. Also, the connection rod 20 comprises a conic section 22 on one end thereof away from the shaft 10. The conic section 22 tapers from a wider end to a narrower end, with an insertion section 23 on the narrower end thereof, whereby the connection rod 20 passes through the through hole 201 with the insertion section 23.
Thus, during the maintenance of the brake caliper 200, when the user needs to apply the forcing tool 300 to force the piston into the brake caliper 200 in a rotation manner (as shown by Fig. 7) for replacement of the brake lining, or when the user needs to impose force upon the brake caliper 200 for other repairing operations, the user is able to place the brake caliper 200 of a table surface 40, and pass the connection rods 20 through the through holes 201 of the brake caliper 200 for positioning the connection rods 20 on the brake caliper 200. Next, the user grips the handle 12 for fixing the shaft 10, such that the brake caliper 200 is positioned by the assistance of force imposed by the connection rods 20 upon the through holes 201. Compared with the method of grabbing the brake caliper 200 with bare hands, the present invention facilitates the force imposing process of the user. 15 Also, compared with the traditional method of clamping the brake caliper 200 with a vise, the present invention prevents the accidental clamping damage on the brake caliper 200. In addition, with the movement of the slide member 30 along the length direction of the shaft 10, the distance 20 between the connection rods 20 combined on the slide members 30 is also adjustable. Thus, for brake caliper 200 having different interval distance between the through holes 201, the distance between the connection rods 20 of the present invention is allowed to be adjusted according to the corresponding interval distance between the through holes 201 of the brake calipers 200. Also, the connection rods 20 are detachable from the slide members 30. Therefore, for meeting different length demands of the connection rods 20 according to differently sized brake calipers 200, connection rods 20 having different lengths are allowed to be replaced on the present invention.
Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
