Prior Art
GB 2008 14 148 (BURNS) discloses a multi-hanger comprises a hook-shaped top and a body comprising tiered holes for receiving conventional clothes hangers. The multi-hanger may be formed in one piece from plastic, and may be rigid. The tiered holes 20 may be evenly spaced.
GB 2008 00 536 (HIRST) discloses a coat hanger support comprising a body, one or more means for suspending the body from another structure having a linear edge extending in a direction, and at least one means for supporting a coat hanger on the body. The coat hanger support preferably has a curved hook 4 at one end and an L-shaped hook at the other end which is in a perpendicular plane to the curved hook. The curved hook can be rotated to support another coat hanger. The L-shaped hook can preferably be pivotally mounted so it can be folded parallel to the coat hanger support body or perpendicular to the body.
GB 2007 00 587 (SYKES-GELDER) discloses a space-saving hanger strap for suspending a plurality of garment hangers comprises: a 360 degree swivel hook with spring latch; a rectangular buckle connected to the hook; and a flexible strap suspended from the buckle. The strap has a number of holes reinforced with eyelets spaced at regular intervals along its length from which conventional clothes hangers may be hung.
The present invention arose in order to overcome problems suffered by existing devices.
Summary of the Invention
According to the present invention there is provided a clothes hanger device comprises: an elongate, flexible body with a substantially flat side profile and a width defined between opposite sides of the body, a proximal end of the hanger device is adapted to hang from a clothes rail or other support and; at least one face of the body has a plurality of hanging locators formed thereon, wherein the hanging locators are spaced along the body and are in the form of apertures extending across the width from one side of the body to the other side and are dimensioned and arranged to receive a hook of a clothes hanger.
The clothes hangers therefore are supported across the width, such that the spaced apart clothes hangers and weight is spread evenly across the face so as to reliably hang in a vertical line.
It may be envisaged that the body may comprise a fabric, so as to provide a flexible but inelastic material, which advantageously will not damage surrounding items or objects, for example having a soft or brushed finish. Furthermore a fabric such as calico or cotton webbing may be envisaged to be used, such that the body is enabled to hang freely.
In some embodiments the body may comprise a thermoplastics material with similar properties.
The body may be multilayer, or be formed with a depth between a front and a rear 30 face.
In some embodiments the front and rear faces may be joined by one or more side faces, which may be substantially or wholly the same width as the front and/or rear faces. For example in some embodiments the body may be square or triangular in sectional profile.
The locators may be provided by apertures through the body, for example wherein the side, front and/or rear faces comprise apertures passing from face to face.
In other embodiments the apertures may be located on extending locators, which 5 locators extend from the face(s).
For example the locator may be provided by a loop extending from the face, wherein the aperture may be defined between the face and the rear surface of the looped locator.
Such looped locators may be provided by bands which have ends secured to the body, for example sewn or bonded to the body or a face thereof.
The looped locator bands may be inelastic and flexible, for example fabric, for example 15 being formed in a similar or identical material to the body.
In some embodiments the looped locator bands may be envisaged in use to be flexible, for example wherein the bands and body are formed in fabric.
In this way it may be envisaged that the bands are liable to hang forward of the face when weight of a clothes hanger is applied to the locator.
In this way advantageously it may be envisaged that the flexible body may be enabled to hang according to weighting.
The proximal end of the body may be envisaged to comprise a rail securement means. Such rail securement means may comprise a hook or a clip. The rail securement means may be integral to or integrated in the proximal end.
It may be envisaged that the rail securement means comprises a rotatable or swivelling connection to the proximal end of the body, where the body may be arranged to hang freely on the rail securement means, and the body may be envisaged to swing below the rail securement means.
The rail securement means may be reinforced or supported.
In other embodiments the proximal end may comprise a hole for receipt of a rail securement means, for example a hook, which hook is arranged to pass through the hole wherein the hole comprises a supported and/or reinforced boundary.
In this way the reinforced or supported rail securement means may be arranged to accept weight of multiple clothes hangers on the body's locators.
In addition or the alternative the locators may be reinforced or supported.
In some embodiments the distal end of the body or an intermediate point of the body may be provided with an anchor, which anchor may be utilised to prevent swinging of the body.
The anchor may comprise a weight. The weight may be displaced from the body, for 15 example wherein the distal end of the body comprises a hook, for hanging a weighted item.
The anchor may comprise a fastening means, which fastening means may be envisaged to enable a user to fasten the distal end of the body to a ground or cupboard or other item. The fastening means may comprise a hook and loop material such as Velcro (RTM) or button or press-stud arrangement, and/or open arms of material for fastening to themselves.
In some embodiments the device comprises more than one body, or more than one 25 set of spaced locators on the body. For example two longitudinally spaced lines of locators may be provided on a single face of the body, and may be spaced staggered side by side.
In some embodiments the rail securement means may comprise more than one hook, 30 for example to spread weight of a laden body. Such hooks may be a fixed laterally spaced arrangement, and/or may share an attachment with the body.
The device allows more hangers to be hung from a single rail than previously was possible and is particularly useful in the transport and storage of hangers in shops, 35 warehouses and factories A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the Figures in which:
