Abstract

A first article 10 and second article 20 are attached by providing an adhesive on a surface of the first or second articles; placing the first and second articles into a desired final position relative to each other; positioning a flexible sheet 30 over the first article, and secured to the second article, wherein the flexible sheet is provided with a vacuum hose connector (34, Figure 2); connecting a vacuum hose 40 to the vacuum hose connector and a vacuum pump 50, and operating the vacuum pump. A breather material (32, Figure 2) may be provided under the flexible sheet. A monitoring apparatus may be connected between the hose connector 40 and pump 50 than can detect a drop in vacuum level and initiate an alarm condition. A counter or count up timer may be started upon detection of the alarm condition. The apparatus may comprise several channels, each associated with one vacuum operation. The apparatus may comprise a battery, wireless communication capability, and a datalogger to record operational parameters.
