Abstract

259,244. Rhodes, F. Oct. 3, 1925, [Convention date]. Flooring and facing tiles.-Tiles for use in mosaic work are constructed with curved outlines in which the curves are arcs of circles of which the radii are functions of the side of a fundamental square and the centres are placed in the sides or diagonals of this square or on prolongations of them. Fig. 1 shows a pattern made by arranging eight other squares round the central fundamental square and drawing arcs as shown, any parts of the various arcs being utilized to form the tiles. Figs. 4, 6 and 9 are three examples of a large number of illustrated forms of tiles that can be obtained by using parts of the arcs of Fig. 1 to form the outlines. Numerous patterns are shown which are produced by combining the different shapes of tiles.
