Abstract

Apparatus (e.g. a patch or strip) suitable for placement over a tooth of a patient to dispense a topical agent (e.g. a local anaesthetic) to a focused area comprises an elastomeric polymer mould 2 having an inner section 4 for receiving the topical agent and an outer section 6, surrounding the inner section. The outer section is made from an impermeable material and acts as a barrier to prevent the agent from spreading from the inner section to and beyond the outer section thereby ensuring that the agent is administered to the patient in a focused area. The mould may be made from a silicon or rubber polymer and the outer section can include means to adhere the apparatus to the tooth.
