Abstract
258,672. Green, G. R. April 27, 1926. Ice-cream and like freezers.-In apparatus for freezing and extruding through a nozzle ice-cream and other substances, of the type comprising an annular cooling-chamber 6, an inner cooling-chamber 8, and a worm conveyer 10 in the annular passage 3 between the cooling-chambers, the conveyer is revolubly mounted in anti-friction rings 22. The cream &c. is supplied to the passage 3 from a hopper 26 and pipe 27 with valve 28, and the cooling- medium is supplied and withdrawn through branches pipes 24, 25 at one end. The conveyer 10, Fig. 4, is attached at one end to a toothed wheel 11 engaging a wheel 12 on a driven shaft 13, and is provided at the other end with bayonet slots 16 for detachable engagement by pins 15 on a toothed wheel 17 gearing with a wheel 18 on the shaft 13. The anti-friction rings 22, which may be in two parts, occupy grooves 23 in the fixed walls of the cooling-chambers, and the conveyer is supported also by end bearings 21. By disconnecting the couplings 33 on the brine pipes 24, 25 and detaching the wheel 17, the worm conveyer and inner cooling chamber may be withdrawn. Nozzles of various shapes may be fitted on the outlet 20, and if desired a conveyer mav be arranged within the part 19 of the outlet end. The chamber 9 within the cooling-chamber 8, and a space 5 around the cooling-chamber 6, may contain heat-insulating material. The inner chamber 8, 9 is normally held stationary by a cross-bar secured by pins to lugs on the machine frame.
