Abstract
A system for feeding fluid into a millifluidic or microfluidic apparatus, the system comprising a first reservoir 11 arranged to contain a fluid and fluidically connected to the apparatus, a pressurising device 14 arranged to pressurise the first reservoir so as to, in use, drive fluid using positive pressure from the first reservoir into the apparatus, and a second reservoir 13 arranged contain a fluid wherein the second reservoir is fluidically connected to the first reservoir via a pump 16 and the pump arranged to feed fluid from the second reservoir into the first reservoir. The system operates by a positive pressure differential between the first reservoir and the apparatus which drives fluid from the first reservoir into the apparatus. Ideally the second reservoir is open to the atmosphere and is fluidically connected to an output of the apparatus such that a fluid recirculation system is created. A method for feeding fluid into a millifluidic or microfluidic apparatus comprises pressurising a fluid in a first reservoir fluidically connected to the apparatus such that the pressure drives the fluid from the first reservoir into the apparatus, and pumping fluid from a second reservoir into the first reservoir.
