Abstract

The vehicle has an engine, a transmission, ground-engaging motive means and a controller. The method of testing a parking brake of a vehicle includes the steps of applying the parking brake, starting the vehicle engine such that the engine operates at a first rotational speed, and engaging the transmission; activating a parking brake test mode in which the controller automatically operates the engine at a second rotational speed that is greater than the first rotational speed for a predetermined time period; and determining whether the vehicle moves during the predetermined time period.
