Abstract
Methods and systems for transmitting data packets of a data session through a selected connection at a network node. The network node determines number of possible connections. When data packets belong to a new data session, a connection is selected to be the selected connection based on connection selection criteria. Further data packets belonging to the data session will be transmitted through the selected connection. A connection selection criteria include selecting a connection with the lowest latency among all connections. Evaluation packets based on the first data packet of the new data session are used to evaluate latency.

A method for transmitting data packets of a data session through a connection at a network node, comprising the steps of: a. determining a number of possible connections; b. receiving data packets from a local area network (LAN); c. when the data packets belong to a new data session: i. creating one or more first-evaluation packets; ii. sending the one or more first-evaluation packets to a first destination through one or more of the possible connections; iii. evaluating latency to the first destination of the one or more of the possible connections; iv. selecting one of the possible connections to be a selected connection; v. transmitting the data packets through the selected connection; d. when receiving further data packets belonging to the new data session: i. transmitting the data packets through the selected connection.
- 2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the steps (c) and (d) are performed if the data packets satisfy a match condition.
- 3. The method of claim 2, further comprising the step of: e. when the data packets do not satisfy the match condition, transmitting the data packets through any connection.
