Abstract

A magnetic lid protector that attached to the top of a lid that covers the hotplates of a range cooker, wherein the protector 3 comprises a solid material that is magnetically 4 attached to the top of a range cooker lid 1. Preferably the protector is made using laminates, metals, resins, glass, ceramics or any pre-formed material. The magnetics are strong enough to allow the protector to remain attached when the range cooker lid is raised to the vertical position. Preferably the protector is heat resisting and can be used as a trivet.

Description

Magnetic Lid Protector

This invention relates to the protection of the lids covering the hotplates on Range Cookers.

Since the 70s shaped lid covers have been given a perfect polished finish.

To protect this surface chef pads have been made available from various fabrics.

Chef pads cover the lids, but when the lid is raised they can slide off. Some have ties to attach to the handle, even then the pad can move to one side and become trapped under the adjoining lid, becoming a fire hazard.

To overcome these problems the present invention is a solid Magnetic Lid Protector to attach to Range Cooker lids, using all types of solid material in shape and design.

Each lid protector is fitted with a number of magnets positioned to take up the shape of the contour of the lid of a Range Cooker hot plate to hold it in place.

The benefits of a solid Magnetic Lid Protector are:-

1. When the lid is raised a magnetic lid protector will remain in place.

2. The magnets are strong enough to not only keep the Protector in place, being of a solid material can easily be removed and used as a Trivet on another surface.

3. In place on the lid the Protector becomes a safe heat resisting work surface for hot dishes.

4. Fabric pads not only need regular washing, heat can cause discolouring, whereas a solid material Protector just needs to be wiped to keep clean.

5. Using a solid melamine laminate images or prints could be super imposed on the surface.

Claims

1. The Magnetic Lid Protector comprises of a solid material magnetically attached to the top of any shaped Range Cooker Lid to protect the surface.

2. The Magnetic Lid Protector according to Claim 1, will be made using every type of solid material Laminates, Metals, Resins, Glass, Ceramics or any pre-formed material.

3. The Magnetic Lid Protector according to Claim 1, has selected magnets fitted, strong enough for the Protector to stay attached to the lid when raise to the vertical position

4. The Magnetic Lid Protector according to Claim 1, is fitted with a strong enough magnetic pull to hold the Protector lid in a vertical position , yet can be removed and used as a Trivet.

5. The Magnetic Lid Protector according to Claim 1, is heat resisting not only to protect the lid but is useable as a work surface when removing hot dishes from the oven.
