A FISHING DEVICE
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a fishing device, in particular a device for coarse fishing; more particularly but not exclusively a device for fishing with a bait boat.
Background
Increasing interest in carp fishing is a feature of modern society, with large amounts of time and money being spent by carp anglers or potential users.
In particular bait boats may be used to deliver bait remotely to the carp. Bait boats are electronic boats that deliver bait and terminal tackle to a chosen point.
When bait boats were first introduced, many carp anglers were not happy, with many branding the use of bait boats as cheating which led to many fisheries banning the use of bait boats across the UK.
Views on bait boats have changing, with many carp anglers now owning a bait boat, with high profile anglers promoting their use in the right fishing situation.
However loading and maintaining a bait boat can be problematic as the user needs to access both the top and bottom of the bait boat, at a comfortable height minimising effort.

JP 2016 202 056 (SATO) discloses a fishing stand capable of reducing troubles of an angler using a back ring. The fishing stand can mount a back ring stored with a fishing ground bait and be equipped with a grip hand, and comprises a surface, a fixing portion and legs. The surface is supported by a plurality of legs, and has a back ring placed at its upper portion. The fishing portion has its one end fixed at the placing part and its other end retained at the upper end of the back ring, and is provided in one mutually opposing pair.
The present invention arose in order to overcome problems suffered by existing devices.
Summary of the Invention
According to the present invention there is provided a fishing device arranged for accessing a bait boat, comprising a planar surface for supporting the bait boat, and a plurality of collapsible legs for elevating the surface, wherein the surface has a displaceable portion to allow access to the underside of the bait boat in use.
The surface may comprise a planar table top, where the legs elevate the table top to a useful height for a user who may be envisaged to be seated next to the device in use.
In some embodiments the legs may be adjustable in height, for example comprising coaxially telescopic legs. In some embodiments in addition or in the alternative the legs may fold up to the surface so as to enable easy storage and advantageous transport to a fishing site. The device may comprise hooks or clips to maintain the legs in a stored position.
The legs may comprise articulated feet, arranged to enable the device to stand on uneven ground. The device may comprise pegs for securement of the feet in some embodiments.
In some embodiments the device may comprise one or more storage compartments, so as to enable storage or transport of items. These compartments may be arranged around the surface for easy access when loading or unloading the bait boat.
In some embodiments the surface is arranged to maintain items on its top, for example having a lip, edge or wall. In some embodiments the surface comprises a drain or exit, so as to allow for removal or cleaning.
The bait box in use is therefore placed onto the surface for easy access to all parts of the bait box at an appropriate height, for example for a seated user.
In some embodiments the device comprises a plurality of containers for items, so as to enable the items to be easily and conveniently located around the edge of the surface. The containers may be arranged to hang from the edges of the surface, for example comprising saddle bags on a rail, so as to enable easy removal and storage for transport.
The surface may thereby comprise a displaceable portion from an edge of the surface, which portion may be displaced through a hinge, clip, tolerance, interference or friction fitting. In this way the portion may be in place typically, and for example during transport or storage of the device, but may be simply and easily displaced so as to enable easy access below the bait boat as required.
Ideally the displaceable portion may be relocated onto another part of the device or location thereon, so as to maintain the device in a compact manner and minimise risk of loss of the portion.
In some embodiments the legs are arranged at the corners of the surface, and may be formed of a structurally rigid material such as steel, so as to maximise available space between the legs.
The device may thereby provide space below the surface so as to enable use of one or more pails or containers to receive items for or from the bait box, as well as allowing maintenance of the pails and items from the weather.
In this way the bait boat may be loaded with hook from below, whilst elevated to a comfortable height for the user.
In this way the device of the present invention provides a convenient means to store and transport multiple items for the bait boat, a comfortable means of loading and unloading the bait boat prior to and after use, and a useful means to access the bait boat underside.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the Figures in which:

Detailed Description of Figures
With reference generally to the figures there is shown in general an embodiment of the device comprising arranged for accessing a bait boat 200, comprising a planar surface 3 for supporting the bait boat, and a plurality of collapsible legs 4 for elevating the surface, and containers 1, wherein the surface has a displaceable portion 2 to allow access to the underside of the bait boat in use.
The legs comprise feet and a pivot connection 45 to the corners of the surface. The feet 40 comprise a pivot connection to the legs. Each set of two legs is joined by a horizontal brace 41.
The legs are telescopic, comprising locking collars 47 at an intermediate location for locking individual lengths.
With particular reference to the embodiment shown the embodiment comprises a rectangular planar surface 10 with horizontal two hanger rods 44 hanging on hooks 43, down the longer two sides and the short side opposite the displacing portion. The displaceable portion 2 displaces from one of the short ends, and comprises a slidable portion, sliding with reference to the surface in a rectangular lacuna with side slots, and having sidemost ribs 22 for travelling in the slots 11.
The surface 3 has a rebate 21 on its underside for receipt of the displaced portion.
The lacuna comprises two parallel slots 11, wherein the uppermost slots are for when the portion is in place as a part of the surface. The lower slots are for the portion when it is displaced from the surface and slid to be stored underneath the surface to enable the user to access the underside of the bait boat when the bait boat is on the surface.
The surface comprises an outer edge lip 74, and the portion 2 likewise has a lip 12, so as to limit loss of parts on the surface when loaded or unloaded with the bait boat.
The underside of the surface comprises leg storage loops 46, which comprise Velcro (RTM) closure, for storage of the folded legs for transport and storage purposes.
The rods 44 are shown as anchors for flexible saddle bag containers 42.
As shown in Figures 10, the portion 2 is slid from the surface, flipped and slid back onto the surface, placing the side ribs 22 into the lower slots 11, so as to allow the portion to slide under the surface into the rebate.
As shown in Figure 4, the device 99 is used with the bait boat 200 on the surface and a plurality of containers, shown as buckets 400, may be used or fit underneath the surface, as well as the saddle bag containers 42.
Also as shown in Figure 4 the device’s feet 40 may be pinned to the ground using pegs 300, as the feet have holes for pinning.
The invention has been described by way of examples only and it will be appreciated that variation may be made to the above-mentioned embodiments without departing from the scope of invention as defined by the claims, in particular but not solely combination of features of described embodiments.
