An arm 21 is pivotally attached to the base member 20 with a pivot axle for allowing the arm 21 to be rotated relative to the base member 20 by a first driving device, e.g. first driving motor 30. A carrier 40 is pivotally attached to the arm 21 with a pivot rod 41 having a pivot axle 22. The pivot rod 41 supports the monitor or display 88, and allows the carrier 40 to be rotated relative to the arm 21 by a second driving device or motor 50. Followers 23 or gears or pulleys attached to pivot axles are driven by the motors 30, 50 via, for example, a chain. The motors 30, 50 are controlled by a control device which receives signals from a senor 70 which detects a user relative to the monitor or display.
Description
FIG. 6
SUPPORT DEVICE FOR MONITOR OR DISPLAY
The invention relates to an automatic support device including an adjustable structure or mechanism for adjusting a carrier and/or various objects, such as monitors, displays, keyboards, antenna members, or the like, relative to a supporting stand automatically.
Various kinds of typical carriers or support devices have been developed and comprise a supporting member or carrier member attached or mounted or supported on a supporting stand and for supporting various objects, such as monitors, displays, keyboards, antenna members, or the like.
For example, U.S. Patent No. 5,758,849 to Bui et al., U.S. Patent No. 6,213,438 to Ostby et al., U.S. Patent No. 6,766,994 to Serbinski et al., U.S. Patent No. 6,796,537 to Lin, U.S. Patent No.
6,863,252 to Bosson, U.S. Patent No. 7,413,152 to Chen, U.S. Patent No. 7,628,552 to Coppola, U.S. Patent No. 7,644,897 to Shin, U.S. Patent No. 7,722,003 to Ishizaki et al., and U.S. Patent No.
7,784,747 to Gan et al. disclose several of the typical support devices or carrier devices each also comprising a support member or carrier member pivotally or rotatably attached or mounted or coupled to a supporting stand with one or more pivotal arms for supporting various objects, such as monitors, displays, keyboards, antenna members, or the like.
However, normally, the support members or carrier members and the pivotal arms and the supporting stands include a rather complicated structure or configuration and are pivotally or rotatably coupled together with pivot joints or axles and are adjustable to different angular positions by a frictional force between the members or elements that may not solidly and stably support the carrier and the objects in place, and the supporting stands normally include a structure or configuration that may not be used to solidly and stably support the support members or carrier members in the required position. In addition, the typical support devices or carrier devices may only be adjusted manually, but may not be adjusted automatically.
It is accordingly an object of the present invention to provide a stable support device including an adjustable structure or mechanism for adjusting a carrier and/or various objects, such as monitors, displays, keyboards, antenna members, or the like, relative to a supporting stand automatically.
According to the invention there is provided a support device comprising:an attaching device for attaching to a supporting wall or table, a base member attached to the attaching device, an arm pivotally attached to the base member with a pivot axle for allowing the arm to be rotated relative to the base member with the pivot axle, a first driving device connected to the pivot axle for driving and rotating the arm relative to the base member to the best or selected angular position relative to the base member, a carrier pivotally attached to the arm with a pivot rod for supporting an object or monitor or displayer on the carrier, and for allowing the carrier to be rotated relative to the arm with the pivot rod, and a second driving device connected to the pivot rod for driving and rotating the carrier and the object or monitor or display er relative to the arm to the best or selected angular position relative to the arm.
The first driving device preferably includes a first follower, such as a pinion, gear, or pulley attached to the pivot axle and rotated in concert with the pivot axle relative to the base member, and a connecting member, such as a pinion, gear, or chain or the like connected to the first follower for rotating the pivot axle and the arm relative to the base member to the best or selected angular position relative to the base member. For example, the first driving device may include a spindle connected to the first follower with the connecting member.
The second driving device may include a second follower, such as a pinion, gear, or pulley attached to the pivot rod and rotated in concert with the pivot rod relative to the arm, and a connecting member, such as a pinion, gear, or chain or the like connected to the second follower for rotating the pivot rod and the carrier relative to the arm to the best or selected angular position relative to the arm. For example, the second driving device may include a spindle connected to the second follower with the connecting member.
A sensor may further be provided and attached to the object for detecting a user relative to the object. A control device may further be provided and electrically connected to the sensor for receiving signals from the sensor. The control device is preferably electrically connected to the first driving device and the second driving device with a wire or cable or remotely for actuating or operating or controlling the first driving device to pivot or rotate or drive the pivot axle and the arm relative to the base member and/or for actuating or operating or controlling the second driving device to pivot or rotate or drive the pivot rod and the carrier relative to the arm, and thus to adjust the carrier and the object to the best or selected angular position relative to the user.
