Abstract

A removable inner liner B for a disposable cups A incorporating a clip seal mechanism C, which attaches to the outer cup rim to prevent liquid ingress between the liner and outer cup. The liner may ideally be recyclable, waterproof and heat resistant.

This invention relates to a device for making disposable cups more easily recyclable.
In the UK we use 2.5 million disposable cups per day, many purchased from coffee shops. Most of these cups are not recycled due to the difficulties in separating a bonded thin plastic film from the inside of the cup. To overcome this problem the invention allows for an easy-to-remove recyclable waterproof and heat resistant inner liner to be incorporated into a disposable cup without the requirement for the cup to have a bonded film lining. The removable inner liner maintains a leakproof seal around the rim of the cup so that as the cup is tipped for drinking no fluid will ingress between the liner and the cup.

Claims (1)

  1. A removable inner liner for disposable cups incorporating a clip seal mechanism to the rim of the cup to ensure liquid within the liner does not ingress between the liner and the cup when tipped for drinking.
