Abstract

A personal care device for aiding a disabled user in carrying out personal care tasks in relation to regions of the body that the user cannot reach without difficulty, the device comprising: an elongate body section 1, 2 for extending the reach of the user; a distal end for holding a tool 11, 13, wherein the tool is for interaction with the body to perform a personal care task; a proximal end that can be gripped by the user, the proximal end including a control apparatus 5, 6 for controlling the tool; and a camera8 to enable the user to view the body and a part of the tool at the distal end and to thereby guide the interaction of the tool with the body.
