Abstract

A tilt fitting for a window sash, having an attachment rail 6, on which a scissors element 1 is attached with a first and a second scissors limb 2, 3, wherein a support bracket 4 is attached at the free end of the first scissors limb 2 and the tilt fitting is provided with a locking element, is designed so that the attachment rail 6 is connectable to a fixed, horizontally extending frame spar of a window and is longitudinally displaceable in relation to this frame spar, wherein the attachment rail 6 is mechanically displaceable out of a base position and is fixable in this case in any displacement position. The attachment rail may be slidably mounted in a second rail 36. A series of levers 5, 54a, 54b may displace position of the rail 6; alternatively a spindle may be provided. An opened window may be laterally displaced for cleaning.

(54) Title of the Invention: Tilt fitting for a window sash Abstract Title: Window stay with multiple positions (57) Atilt fitting for a window sash, having an attachment rail 6, on which a scissors element 1 is attached with a first and a second scissors limb 2, 3, wherein a support bracket 4 is attached at the free end of the first scissors limb 2 and the tilt fitting is provided with a locking element, is designed so that the attachment rail 6 is connectable to a fixed, horizontally extending frame spar of a window and is longitudinally displaceable in relation to this frame spar, wherein the attachment rail 6 is mechanically displaceable out of a base position and is fixable in this case in any displacement position. The attachment rail may be slidably mounted in a second rail 36. A series of levers 5, 54a, 54b may displace position of the rail 6; alternatively a spindle may be provided. An opened window may be laterally displaced for cleaning.

Tilt fitting for a window sash
The subject matter of the present invention is a tilt fitting for a window sash, having an attachment rail, on which a scissors element is attached with a first and a second scissors limb, wherein a support bracket is linked on the free end of the first scissors limb and the tilt fitting is provided with a locking element.
A window sash, which is attached using tilt fittings of the type in question to a frame, can be opened outward via these tilt fittings. The advantage of this opening method is that, on the one hand, the interior of a building is not obstructed upon opening of a corresponding window and, on the other hand, that the corresponding window is additionally pressed into the sealed position in the closed state in the event of the application of wind by the wind pressure acting from the outside, in addition to the provided structural means.
Corresponding tilt fittings have the disadvantage that a corresponding window, if it is not externally accessible, is only reachable with difficulty from the outside for cleaning purposes.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of designing a tilt fitting of the type in question so that a window sash, which is equipped with such tilt fittings, also has sufficient accessibility to its outer side.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the attachment rail is connectable to a fixed, horizontally extending frame spar of a window and is longitudinally displaceable in relation to this frame spar, wherein means are provided, by means of which the attachment rail is mechanically displaceable out of a base position and is fixable in this case in any displaced position.
Such a tilt fitting has the advantage that a window sash which is equipped with such tilt fittings can not only be opened outward and closed in a typical manner, but rather can also be displaced in the open state into a position which enables a sufficient reach through to the outer side of the window sash, so that such a window sash can also be conveniently cleaned from the outside.
-2One particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that the attachment rail is guided so it is longitudinally displaceable in a mounting rail, which is in turn fastenable on a fixed frame spar of a window.

Exemplary embodiments of the invention are illustrated in the appended drawings and will be described in greater detail hereafter, wherein:

In Figures 1 to 5, a window identified as a whole by the reference sign 50 having a window sash 51 and a fixed frame 52 is shown, wherein the window sash 51 is connected to the frame 52 via two tilt fittings.
Furthermore, Figures 1 to 5 show that the window sash 51 can be opened outward in relation to the frame 52 (the figures each show the window sash 51 in the open state), and additionally the window sash 51 is displaceable in the open state parallel to the lower and upper spars of the frame 52, so that a reach-through opening 53 can be formed between the window sash 51 and the directly adjacent vertical frame spar, through which a window cleaner can reach and thus also conveniently clean the external surface of the window sash 51 as needed, which is clearly shown in particular in Figure 5c).
It is clear from Figure 5b) that the window sash 51 is firstly displaced in the region of the lower spar of the frame 52 and then can be displaced by displacement in the region of the upper spar of the frame 52 into the working position according to Figure 5c), i.e., the window sash 51 does not have to be displaced simultaneously in the upper and the lower end regions in relation to the frame 52. Of course, the window sash 51 can also firstly be displaced in its upper region and then moved into the working position according to Figure 5c) by displacement in the lower region.
This option is opened up by the tilt fittings, the respective positions of which upon opening and displacement of the window sash 51 are shown in Figures 5a) to 5c) above and below the window.
The tilt fittings in the upper and in the lower region of the window sash 51 are functionally equivalent, wherein the function and the construction of these tilt fittings are each explained hereafter with reference to the lower tilt fitting and Figures 6 to 10.
It is clear from each of Figures 6 to 10 that the tilt fitting has an attachment rail 6, which bears a scissors element 1.
This scissors element 1 has a first scissors limb 2 and a second scissors limb 3, which is pivotably connected thereto by means of a joint pin 8, wherein the
-4first scissors limb 2 is held so it is longitudinally displaceable in the attachment rail 6, while the second scissors limb 3 is linked via a pivot pin 10 on the attachment rail 6.
A support bracket 4, which supports the window sash 51, is articulated with the first scissors limb 2 in a known manner by means of a pivot bearing.
A two-armed lever 5 is provided, which is attached so it is rotationally movable on the free end of the second scissors limb 3 using a bearing pin 13. One end of the two-armed lever 5 is attached via a joint to the support bracket 4, while the other end is held on the attachment rail 6 so it is displaceable and supported opposite to the closing direction of the window sash 51.
The use of a two-armed lever 5 as described in the preceding paragraph increases the stability of the tilt fitting overall. In the event of lower loads to be expected, instead a construction can also be selected in which the lever 5 is not extended beyond the bearing pin 13, whereby a certain material savings and overall lighter construction of the tilt fitting results.
For support, a support bearing 7 is fastened on the attachment rail 6, which has a longitudinal slot extending in the movement direction, i.e., in the displacement direction of the lever 5, the base of which forms a guide path for contact of the lever 5 during the displacement procedure when opening and closing the window sash 51. Via a support element 15 adjustable transversely to the displacement direction of the lever 5, in the example an eccentric screw, the pivot position of the two-armed lever 5 in the closed position of the sash and therefore the contact pressure can be changed, wherein the support element 15 forms a buttress.
The above-described structure of a tilt fitting essentially corresponds to known constructions.
It is novel and essential to the invention in a tilt fitting of the type discussed here that the attachment rail 6 is longitudinally displaceable in relation to a horizontally expending frame spar of the frame 52 and is fixable in the arbitrary intermediate positions during the displacement path.
The meaning of this construction measure the results in particular from the illustrations of Figures 5a) to 5c), wherein Figure 5c), as already mentioned above,
-5makes it clear that a reach-through opening 53 can be exposed by displacing the window sash 51, through which a window cleaner or the like can comfortably reach and clean the outer side of the window sash 51.
In this case, the attachment rail 6, as shown in the illustrated exemplary embodiments, can be guided so it is longitudinally displaceable in a mounting rail 36, wherein the mounting rail 36 is fixedly fastened on a horizontally extending spar of the frame 52.
Notwithstanding this, with reference to Figure 7, the use of a mounting rail 36 can also be omitted, however, and the attachment rail 6 can be directly mounted so it is longitudinally displaceable on a transverse spar of the frame 52 via corresponding construction means, which a designer can readily locate.
It is important that each displacement position can be secured. This can preferably be performed by friction locking.
As shown in the illustrated exemplary embodiments, a lever gearing 54, which consists of two levers 54a and 54b, is attached to the attachment rail 6. In this case, the lever 54a is pivotably connected to the mounting rail 36 and is attached via a joint 55 on one end of the lever 54b. The other end of the lever 54b engages, for example, on the support bearing 7 connected to the attachment rail 6, so that depending on the rotational movement of the lever 54a, the attachment rail 6 can be displaced along the mounting rail 36 via the lever 54b.
To facilitate the actuation of the lever gearing 54, a handle groove 56, for example, can be provided at the free end of the lever 54a. However, the option also exists of providing other actuating means for the pivot of the lever 54a at this free end.
The lever gearing 54 is preferably designed so that is locked in its two possible end positions, so that an unintentional displacement of the window sash 51 is not possible. This can be achieved, for example, in that the lever gearing 54 assumes a dead center position in its two possible end positions.
Alternatively to the solution of longitudinally displacing the attachment rail via a lever gearing 54, an adjustment spindle can also be attached to the attachment rail 6, via which the attachment rail 6 can be longitudinally displaceable.
-6Because of the numerous joints which a tilt fitting according to the invention has, a displacement of the window sash 51 can firstly be carried out in the lower or upper end region, without the fittings being damaged in this way. There is sufficient play to carry out a separate displacement of the upper and/or the low5 er end regions of the window sash 51. The displacement of a window sash 51 into a “cleaning position” can therefore be executed by only one person without problems.

Claims
1. A tilt fitting for a window sash (51), having an attachment rail (6), on which a scissors element (1) is attached with a first and a second scissors limb (2, 3), wherein a support bracket (4) is attached at the free end of the first scissors limb (2) and the tilt fitting is provided with a locking element, characterized in that the attachment rail (6) is connectable to a fixed, horizontally extending frame spar of a window and is longitudinally displaceable in relation to this frame spar, wherein means are provided, by means of which the attachment rail (6) is mechanically displaceable out of a base position and is fixable in this case in any displacement position.
2. The tilt fitting according to Claim 1, characterized in that the attachment rail (6) is guided so it is longitudinally displaceable in a mounting rail (36), which is in turn fastenable on a fixed frame spar of a window.
3. The tilt fitting according to Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that an adjustment spindle is provided as the means for displacing the attachment rail (6).
4. The tilt fitting according to any one of Claims 1 or 2, characterized in that a lever gearing (54) is provided as the means for displacing the attachment rail (6).

The tilt fitting according to Claim 4, characterized in that the lever gearing (54) consists of a first lever (54a), which is connected to a frame spar of a window or a mounting rail (36), and a second lever (54b), which is connected to the attachment rail (6), wherein the levers (54a) and (54b) are connected to one another via a joint (55) and the lever (54a) is provided on its free end with an actuating element.
6. The tilt fitting according to Claim 4 or 5, characterized in that the lever gearing (54) is locked in its two possible end positions.
7. The tilt fitting according to Claim 4, 5, or 6, characterized in that the lever gearing (54) is equipped on one of its levers (54a) with a handle groove (56), a handle part, or the like for actuation.
-98. The tilt fitting according to any one of Claims 4 or 5, characterized in that the lever gearing (54) is equipped on its first lever (54a) with a receptacle for an actuating tool.
