Abstract

An apparatus (101, Fig. 1) and method 1000 for controlling the position of an eye-box (102, Fig. 1) of a head-up display (103, Fig. 1). The apparatus comprises a control means (114, Fig. 1) configured to: obtain positional data of the current position of a user’s (105, Fig. 1) eyes (104, Fig. 1); and cause movement of a moveable element (108, Fig. 1) of a head-up display (103, Fig. 1) to adjust the position of the eye-box (102, Fig. 1) of the head-up display to align with the eye position of the user. The apparatus may receive a signal from an imaging means or camera (115, Fig. 1) from which the user’s eyes may be identified and a two-dimensional position of the eyes obtained (Fig. 5). The control means compares the acquired positional data with stored data to determine the required position of the moveable element (mirror). Positional data of the eye-box and the moveable element may also be used to determine a transformation to be applied to the image data such as an inverse transformation of image distortion caused by optical elements.
