Abstract

Inductances. - Mounts or holders for tuning inductances, high-frequency transformers, chokes and like coils used in wireless telegraphy and telephony with basket, spider, duplex or other windings having radially-arranged air spac. ings left by pegs of a former removed affer winding comprise an inner hub, ring or disc A, and an outer ring B held concentric by radial spokes C secured in or to the hub A and ring B, the spokes C passing through the radial spacings in the coil J and holding it within the ring B and encircling the hub A, and the ring B carrying the connections of the coil J or supports therefor. The hub A and ring B may be of ebonite or other insulating material with peripheral holes opposite the spokes C, the spokes fitting friction-tight in, or screwing into, the holes in the hub A and screws D passing through the holes in the ring B and screwing into the ends of the spokes C. Metal plates G secured to the ring B by the screws D may have outwardlybent, apertured ends G<1> engaged with metal pins F in an ebonite or other tube E or recessed rod or block carrying plug-and-socket connections E<1>, E<2> in electrical connection with the pins F. The projecting ends of the pins F are threaded to receive nuts F<1>, F<2>, the two ends of the coil being held under these nuts or under the screws D. A spigot H secured in the tube E and ring B prevents rotation of the connections E<1>, E<2>. In a modification applicable to reaction coils, the plug connections E<1>, E<2> are replaced by metal cones extending from opposite ends of the tube &c. E and connected to the coil, the cones engaging recesses in metal brackets on a base or panel and so serving as contacts and pivotal mountings for the coil. In applications to tapped or twin-wound coils such as aperiodic or autocouplings, extra terminals are provided on the ring B or tube E or extensions thereof. The plates G may carry a disc, square or block of ebonite having from contacts legs connected to the ends of a high-frequency transformer held on the spokes C. The Provisional Specification describes tubular radial spokes.
