Abstract

A method of installing a mooring line or mooring line assembly comprising: providing first 25 and second 15 mooring lines, which may comprise ropes, chains, cables or the like. Providing a retention, clamping and/or tensioning device 40 for retaining, clamping and/or tensioning the first and second lines together so as to provide a mooring line assembly. Finally connecting a distal end of one of the mooring lines to an anchor 30a. The connection may be achieved by the end of the mooring line having a male connector and the anchor a female connector able to mate with the male connector on the mooring line. One of the two mooring lines may pass through the retention, clamping and/or tensioning device. A second method of installing a mooring line assembly is disclosed in which a single mooring line is provided which is combined with a retention, clamping and/or tensioning device to provide a mooring line assembly, with the device then connecting directly to an anchor.
