Abstract

A substantially cylindrical device with a circular well (figure 2, 1) in the top face that engages with the bottom of a drinks container such as a tin or can to hold the can securely in place, the well having a slanted wall (figure 2, 2) to retain moisture or drips running down the can. The opposite face of the device has a thin cylindrical wall 3 that engages with the lip of the can to secure it in place and cover the opening to prevent foreign objects entering the can. The lower circumference 4 of the device is larger than the upper circumference to provide stability. Spines, or flanges 6 within the substantially vertical wall strengthen the device. The outer wall (figure 2, 7) provides a smooth outer surface which can be used for printed branding for marketing purposes.

Description

Description: Drinking can mat/lid marketing device
The Drinking can mat/lid is a single device which: reduces the likelihood of a can tipping over; protects work surfaces from moisture from the can; and prevents insects and other foreign objects from entering the can.
The top side of the device (fig.2 drawing) has a circular well (1) which is designed to securely fit the groove of any drinking can to hold in place which reduces the chance of the can being tipped or knocked over. The well also catches any running moisture off the side of can thus protecting the table surface that the drinking can is placed on. The outer area of the well is slanted (2) to prevent trapped moisture from spilling out and to also provide additional base support to wider cans.
The underside of the device (fig.l drawing) has many features designed around the top of drinking cans. There is a thin cylindrical wall (3) which is slightly smaller than the lip of can lids; this securely fits inside the top ring of the can thus providing a cover to protect the beverage against insects and other foreign objects.
The underside of the device is also much broader than the top (4): this first of all covers the top area of the can from direct sunlight and rain which can increase the temperature of the beverage. The wider base also provides a larger surface area which increases the stability of the can even more which in turn reduces the likelihood of a spillage or tip.
This section of the device has also been hollowed out (5) to reduce the overall weight of the part but the spines (6) inside grant the device the same load strength.
The outer surface of the device is smooth and curved which allows for marketing or logos to be printed on for marketing purposes (7).

  1. Claim: The Drinking can mat/lid marketing device A marketing device comprising of: a side which is moulded to hold the base of any aluminium drinking cans which protects the table surface the can is sitting on whilst also reducing the likelihood of the can tipping over; a side which is shaped to sit perfectly on the top side of any aluminium drinking cans protecting the open lid from insects, foreign bodies, rain, and direct sunlight; and an outer surface used for visual branding images.
