Abstract
A label system is provided comprising three sections separated by perforations. A first rectangular section 2 is provided on which details may be printed and which is separable from the second section by first perforations 6. The third section 3 comprises a tag with fingers / arms 5 and is separated from the second section by second perforations. The fingers / arms are looped through a hole of a key and are tied together to attach the tag to the key. The tag may be printed with identification information to link it to the first section. The first section may be held by the owner of a vehicle and the tag securely attached to a key for the vehicle, or the label may be used for left luggage. The material of the label is tear resistant and flexible, e.g. biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) or woven polythene. The label is designed to be printed by a standard desktop printer.

Abstract Title: Label system having separable tag with integral tie attachment (57) A label system is provided comprising three sections separated by perforations. A first rectangular section 2 is provided on which details may be printed and which is separable from the second section by first perforations 6.
The third section 3 comprises a tag with fingers I arms 5 and is separated from the second section by second perforations. The fingers I arms are looped through a hole of a key and are tied together to attach the tag to the key.

Attachable Marker Label
With long term parking it is normal that the keys to the vehicle are left with the attendant who puts them into the storage rack after labelling them. In the past, the usual means of marking has been a standard tie-on baggage label on which the registration number of the vehicle or the owner’s name is handwritten, together with other essential data.
Today, these things are registered on a computer and then printed out onto sticky labels which are then stuck onto the baggage label. It is obvious that this is a complex process and, at busy moments, can easily lead to errors and mistakes, such as sticking the print out onto the wrong label and thus losing track of the item to be stored. Moreover, this process is time consuming and inefficient
This invention solves that particular problem in a simple way. The label is made from a material which at the same time be run through a standard printer but is strong enough not to tear even if subjected to severe force. This label is also easy to tie onto any type of object such a key or a bunch of keys. The material is “a premium thermal top coated biaxial oriented polypropylene” or similar materials such as Tyvek ™, which is a woven polyethylene fibre. These materials are proven to be resistant to tearing and stretching and are difficult to break by human hand.
The label comes preferably in the shape of a rectangular sheet with or without rounded edges, approximately 210 mmm long and approx. 60 mm wide. It is subdivided into two main sections of approximately 100 mm and 110 mm length, the sections being easily separable at a perforated section. The sheet can either be part of a roll which can be fed into a printer equipped for processing rolled paper or on flat sheets of any suitable size.
The approximately 100 mm section, once separated, is handed to the customer for proof of ownership. This may consist of data of the object and/or owner and, if desired, the date & time of delivery.
The easiest way is just to print a bar code on both sections so that when the object is collected the two codes are matched up and the object released. Moreover, a bar code reader wold simplify the retrieval of the object or vehicle.
The second section consists of a in the region of 30 mm tab on which the data about the object and its owner may be printed. Or, as explained above, simply a code which can be matched to the code on the customer’s section.
The second part of this section is also perforated for easy stripping to reveal two fingers diverging from the narrow section toward the larger perforated section.
These fingers are to be tied to the keys (in case of a vehicle) and can then be stored according to the code or name on it.
The fingers are thin so that they can easily be threaded through even small key handles and securely knotted together.
The polypropylene is chosen for its strength and resistance to tearing or stretching as well as cutting.
Naturally, this label can also be used in attended storage units where suitcases or strongboxes can be left for secure storage.
Statement of the invention.
This invention discloses a special tie-on label comprising three parts of different sizes, two of which are pre-perforated for easy separation and the third part being perforated for exposing, upon separation, a pair of fingers starting from of the longer side of the smallest part and pointing in the direction of the largest part, which fingers are thin enough to easily fit into the hole of a key and strong enough to be tied together into a loop, so as to act as key-fob.
Description of the drawings
Sheet 1 shows the complete label (1) in one piece, ready to be fed into a printer for imparting the data to be printed on it. Section (2), shown in blue, will be printed with service provider’s info, such as logo, address etc., a code (or similar) which will be unique to the customer and which will match the code on section (3), such that the two can always be reunited.
Section (2) and section (4), shown in white, are connected by a perforated line which enables easy separation of these two sections. Section (4) also shows perforations which mark out two fingers or strings (5), which fingers are solidly connected to section (3), such that they can be used to attach section (3) the object (e.g. a key) to be marked.
Sheet 2 shows the three sections separated after printing and ready to be used. Section (2) is given to the customer to keep as proof of being the person who left the object. Section (3) shows the fingers (5) solidly attached to its longer side, by which fingers section (3) is tied to the means of access (e.g. keys) or to the object itself, depending on the type of storage facility.
The drawings show the fingers (5) in a divergent form, solely for illustration. The fingers could equally be parallel to each other and still fall within the scope of the invention. Similarly, the dimensions given for the whole and the individual parts are only indicative for illustrative purposes and could be any size.
A practical size is one which easily fits into a person’s wallet or pocket.
Equally, the orientation of the three sections and the arrangement on the whole label are is not limiting to the spirit of the invention and could be varied in any suitable way.
