Abstract

A towbar kit comprising a removable towball and adaptor, the towball part having a ball shaped end A and a threaded end that can engage with a threaded socket in the chassis of a motor vehicle to the front or rear. The towball is secured by a pair of nuts 2A. The adaptor part B may have an external thread at one end to engage with the threaded socket in the vehicle chassis and an internal threaded end to engage with the towball part. The adaptor part allows the towball part to be used with vehicles that have a recovery eye with a different thread to the towball and can also extend the reach of the towball part. The towball part may have a flattened side area 1A to assist with positioning and removal.

Description

TITLE
Temporary tow ball and adaptor BACKGROUND
This invention relates to the problem of needing to move a trailer caravan or the like without having a vehicle with a tow bar.
Statement of invention
To overcome this, the invention proposes a device that fixes to the recovery eye locating thread.
Advantages
The device allows the owner to use it on more than one vehicle without the expense of having a tow bar fitted, also it can be located on the front or rear of a vehicle.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
The invention is made of a suitable material such as SG iron
The device is held in position using a locking method such as two nuts tightened together (2A)
The tow ball (A) can have flattened sides (1A) to help with positioning and removal.
An adaptor has an external thread to one end and an internal thread to the other (B) has two uses, this can be used for extending the length of the tow ball (A) and can be used with a different external thread to the tow ball(A) for vehicles with differing threads.

Claims (3)

1. My invention removes the need for permanent tow bars to be fitted to vehicles.
2. My invention allows the tow ball to be fitted to more than one vehicle on it’s own or with the adaptor (diag 1).
3. My invention allows the tow ball to be fitted to either the front or rear of a vehicle.
