Abstract

A support for an air conditioning system condensing unit (see fig.1) comprising a pair of substantially parallel support members, each terminated at either end by respective leg members extending perpendicularly to the support member, giving a C-shape or U-shape. The support further comprises a pair of substantially parallel link members extending between the support members, orthogonal to the support members and leg members respectively. The support members comprise metal tubes of square cross-section (see fig. 3&5) and each have two spaced groups of at least three equally spaced securing holes extending through the support members on an axis parallel to a link member longitudinal axis. The link member cross-section (see figs. 4&6) is open, for receiving a retaining member (see Detail B, Fig.2) for connection to the condensing unit. Each link member end comprises an end plate having a pair of spaced slots (see fig.7); each having a slot width equal to a diameter of the securing holes and a slot length equal to the spacing between opposite outer sides of adjacent securing holes for connecting the link members to the support members. Each leg may be terminated by a polyamide foot (see figs. 8-10). Also claimed is a kit of parts (see fig.7).

Description

SUPPORT FOR A CONDENSING UNIT OF AN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
[0001] This invention relates to a support for a condensing unit of an air conditioning system.
[0002] According to the present invention there is provided a support for a condensing unit of an air conditioning system as defined in claim 1. The dependent claims define optional features of the support.
[0003] Embodiments of the invention are further described hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the drawings, there is shown a support for a condensing unit of an air conditioning system comprising a pair of substantially parallel support members, each extending in an x direction and each terminated at either end by respective leg members extending in a negative z direction, perpendicular to the x direction, and a pair of substantially parallel link members extending between the support members in a y direction orthogonal to the x and z directions. The support members are formed from metal tube having a substantially square cross-section and each have defined therein two spaced groups of at least three equally spaced securing holes extending through the support members in the y direction. The link members have a cross-section that is open in the positive z direction for receiving a retaining member for connection to the condensing unit. Each link member comprises an end plate at each end thereof having defined therein a pair of spaced slots each having a slot width substantially equal to a diameter of the securing holes and a slot length substantially equal to the spacing between opposite sides of adjacent securing holes for connecting the link members to the support members in a range of possible positions.
[0004] Each leg member is terminated in a polyamide support foot. Each group of securing holes comprises at least five equally spaced securing holes. The spacing of the groups of securing holes is greater than the spacing of the securing holes within the group. The cross-section of each link member comprises opposed inwardly-directed flanges for engaging the retaining member. The support members each form an integrally formed part, including the respective leg members. The invention extends to a kit of parts for constructing the support.

Claims (7)

1. A support for a condensing unit of an air conditioning system comprising: a pair of substantially parallel support members, each extending in an x direction and each terminated at either end by respective leg members extending in a negative z direction, perpendicular to the x direction and a pair of substantially parallel link members extending between the support members in a y direction orthogonal to the x and z directions, wherein the support members are formed from metal tube having a substantially square cross-section and each have defined therein two spaced groups of at least three equally spaced securing holes extending through the support members in the y direction, wherein the link members have a cross-section that is open in the positive z direction for receiving a retaining member for connection to the condensing unit, and wherein each link member comprises an end plate at each end thereof having defined therein a pair of spaced slots each having a slot width substantially equal to a diameter of the securing holes and a slot length substantially equal to the spacing between opposite sides of adjacent securing holes for connecting the link members to the support members in a range of possible positions.
2. A support for a condensing unit as claimed in claim 1, wherein each leg member is terminated in a polyamide support foot.
3. A support for a condensing unit as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein each group of securing holes comprises at least five equally spaced securing holes.
4. A support as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the spacing of the groups of securing holes is greater than the spacing of the securing holes within the group.
5. A support as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the cross-section of each link member comprises opposed inwardly-directed flanges for engaging the retaining member.
6. A support as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the support members each form an integrally formed part, including the respective leg members.
7. A kit of parts for constructing a support as claimed in any preceding claim.
