Abstract

A flat, rigid tray or holder suitable for mounting on a piece of exercise equipment such as the handlebars of an exercise bicycle or a static mounted road bicycle, and capable of holding a book, smart device or similar to entertain the user of the exercise equipment. The tray may have a raised lip 2 at the lower edge and a non-slip surface 1 to support the book/device, and may be secured to the exercise equipment by way of slots in the tray 3 which hold straps 5 to wrap around the exercise equipment. The tray may have a cut-out section 4 to accommodate the handlebar stem.

Cycle Media Trav
Background
This invention relates to a Cycle Media Tray. When exercising on an exercise or static mounted road bicycle, extended exercise sessions can become very boring. Watching films, reading books, listening to music or surfing the internet can all help to reduce this boredom.
Statement of Invention
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a tray assembly fitted to the bicycle's handlebars. This rigid, level mounted "Media Tray" would be capable of supporting a range of different media devices for entertainment. Examples would be tablet computers, notebooks, books, music players, phones and the like.
This "Media Tray" would incorporate a lectern style lip at the front-most edge, to provide security for the chosen entertainment device. A non-slip "working" surface to reduce slippage and vibration.
One or more securing straps (mounted through slots), which secure the tray to the bicycles handlebars.
And a design shape that allows the tray to be fitted snuggly to handlebars in a variety of different sizes and designs.
Advantages
Fitment of the Media Tray and an entertainment device of choice can reduce boredom whilst exercising on exercise or static mounted road bicycles.
Preferably the trays design profile allows for easy fitment, using one or more securing straps.
Preferably the trays top (working) surface will incorporate a non-slip design and a lectern style lip at its front-most edge, to securely support an entertainment device.
Preferably the trays shape allows for fitment to handlebars of a varying sizes and design.

Detailed Description Figure 1:
Shows the "Cycle Media Tray" ready to fit to the bicycles handlebars. A non-slip design 1 is included on the top/working surface to reduce the risk of device movement. A lectern style lip or protrusion 2 allows for secure placement of a media device.
One or more slots 3 are provided for locating the securing straps, which mount the tray to the bicycles handlebars. A cut-out 4 is positioned to provide clearance for the handlebar stem and any resistance controller being used.
Figure 2:
Shows an example of the securing strap 5 used to mount the media tray to the bicycle's handlebars. This/these are positioned using the slots 3 in figure 1.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims "First Claim" 1) A flat and rigid tray for mounting to the handlebars of an exercise or static mounted road bicycle. "Dependant Claims" 2) A tray according to claim 1 where the front-most edge has a raised lip or protrusion. 3) A tray according to claim 1 with a non-slip top surface. 4) A tray according to claim 1 with one or more slots and securing straps. 5) A tray according to claim 1 with a cut-out for the handlebar stem and resistance lever assembly.
