Abstract
Apparatus for controlling an electrical load, in particular for the environmental control of a room, such as the control of a lighting system, comprises an occupancy sensor 5 comprising a thermopile array and responsive to the presence of a person within a detection field 13. The apparatus further comprises a movement sensor 6 responsive to the movement of a person within a detection field and a controllerarranged to receive detection signals from the occupancy and movement sensors and to generate control signals for the electrical load in response thereto. The controller may be user-programmable and be configured to store data indicative of at least one priority location (14, figure 2) within the detection field of the occupancy sensor. The controller may be configured subsequently to generate a control signal in response to a detection signal from the occupancy sensor indicative of the detection of a person at the priority location.
