Abstract
A vehicle passenger safety stop switch for use in a vehicle which when operated disengages the engine or restricts the engine by limiting engine performance. The switch will preferably be located out of reach of the driver. The system may also be preferably installed on the pillion of a motorcycle. The switch will also have child prevention locks to avoid inadvertent application. When the switch is operated the system will preferably activate hazard warning lights.
Description
RE: Vehicle Passenger Safety Stop Switches
Safety stop switches will be put into a vehicle that will be accessible to passengers to disengage the engine or restrict the power to reduce engine performance mode of the moving vehicle if the passenger feels unsafe. This system can also be installed for a pillion passenger on a motorcycle. Below are two possible situations for the system.
Situation 1: Disengage the Engine
Situation 2: Reduced Engine Performance Mode
This switch will be accessible to passengers in the front and the back of the vehicle. The safety switch will be out of reach from the driver and have a child lock protection system so driver and children can't quickly access the switch. When the switch is engaged, the hazard lights can be included. The switch will need to be re-energized manually to put vehicle into normal operation.
The purpose of this system is to give passengers some control in an unsafe situation, i.e. speeding and emergency situations. This could potentially prevent accidents and enable passenger(s) to have more control over vehicle safety.
