Abstract

A mass entertainment apparatus comprises a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter comprises a recording means in the form of a plurality of cameras 20 which acquire images and sound from multiple different angles at a location (e.g. a live sports venue 10). The receiver is a 3D viewer which can be viewed by a large number of people at the same time. The 3D viewer processes the feed from the plurality of cameras to generate a panoramic three-dimensional holographic presentation with surround sound in an amphitheatre-type environment, such that multiple spectators can simultaneously enjoy an enhanced viewing experience.

Description

MASS ENTERTAINMENT TRANSMITTER APPARATUS
The present invention relates to a mass entertainment transmitting apparatus and in particular to a mass entertainment transmitting apparatus for use in the mass entertainment sports and music industry.
In many live events, for instance, sporting events such as football matches and boxing matches, it is not always possible to accommodate all the spectators that wish to see such an event live. These spectators will then have to watch the event on television either at home or in a bar.
However, watching these events on television is really no substitute for being at the event as it is not possible to experience the same atmosphere which can be experienced at the live event.
The object of the invention is to provide a mass entertainment transmitting apparatus which provides an enhanced viewing experience for spectators not present at the actual event.
The present invention provides a mass entertainment transmitting and receiving apparatus comprising a three dimensional holographic recording means and a three dimensional holographic viewing means which can be viewed by a large number of people at the same time.
Advantageously, the three dimensional holographic recording means comprises a plurality of cameras located all around the actual live event so as to record the event both by vision and sound from multiple angles.
Preferably, the three dimensional holographic viewing means comprises viewing means adapted to receive feed signals from the plurality of cameras so as to provide a three dimensional viewing experience by vision and sound, thereby giving a more enhanced atmosphere to the spectators.
Ideally, the three dimensional holographic viewing means is located in an amphitheatre style viewing area and thereby provides an all round viewing experience for the spectators.
The invention will hereinafter be more particularly described with reference to the accompanying drawings which show by way of example only, one embodiment of a mass entertainment apparatus according to the invention. In the drawings: Figure 1 is a schematic representation of two boxers in a boxing ring and showing the location of a plurality of cameras to record the vision and sound of the boxing match as it is taking place; Figure 2 is a schematic representation of the two boxers being shown in three dimensional viewing means in an amphitheatre; and Figure 3 is a schematic representation of players in a football match which is another event which could be shown in a three dimensional viewing means in an amphitheatre.
Referring to the drawings, as shown in Figure 1, two boxers A and B are located in a boxing ring 10 which is surrounded by a number of cameras 20, eight in this particular instance which record sound and vision from their particular location. The feed for all eight cameras is then used to generate a panoramic three dimensional holographic presentation and surround sound on speakers in an amphitheatre type environment 30 which spectators can enjoy a boxing match, football game, concert or other mass entertainment event.
Using the apparatus of the invention patrons would be able to participate in these types of events and obtain the same experience as if they were at the actual event.
It is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific details described herewith which are given by way of example only and that various modifications and alternations are possible without departing from the scope of the invention.
