Abstract

A marker float for fishing use, which illuminates on request from the angler, allowing visual indication of position at night comprising a light source, an electrical power source that is activated by a position sensor system. The float enclosure will preferably be watertight and house an electronic unit that illuminates when the enclosure moves from a vertical position to a horizontal position. The position is detected using a position sensor system and when the position changes state the light propagating devices illuminate.

Description

Title of the invention
A marker float for fishing use, that illuminates on demand.
Field of the invention
The present invention refers to a marker float used for angling, which can be used in day or night.
Background of the invention
When anglers are fishing long distance, they need to know where to put their baited hook and also the attracting food in a spot on a lake. This is currently done by using a marker float which is cast out like a normal float fishing system but there are no baited hooks used. The marker float is anchored to the lake bottom using a heavy lead weight and the idea is to just clearly indicate where to cast the baited rod(s) and the attracting food. At night the angler cannot see this float unless they use a high power torch or use a constant light source attached to the marker float which can scare the fish and annoy other anglers. The present invention allows the angler to illuminate the marker float for the same reasons but without the light being permanently on and spooking/scaring the fish. Therefore the marker float will light up for a short time period only. The illuminating action is made by the angler by simply moving the attached rod and line in a forward motion. Moving the rod back to the original position will therefore switch the light off.
Summary of the invention
The present invention is a marker float system that allows the user to see where the fishing position is during the day or night.
A buoyant enclosure with a sealing cap at one end to ensure the air is trapped inside and no liquid can get in to the electronic components inside the enclosure. A power source which can be rechargeable or non rechargeable is used to supply electrical power to the light propagating components. The light propagating components are illuminated when the sensor system detects a change of position from vertical to horizontal. If the sensor system detects the position change from horizontal to vertical the light propagating components stop illuminating. The power source can be inserted or removed at the end of the enclosure when the cap is removed. The enclosure and cap are connected to a line which is fixed to the main fishing line that allows the invention to be presented in both positions.

Claims (1)

  1. Claims 1/ A marker float system for use with a fishing rod and reel that is buoyant and can be used during daylight or at nigh fishing sessions whereby the marker float can be illuminated on demand, by the user by simply paying the connecting line out and on retrieving the line the illumination request is cancelled. Illumination is made by a light propagating devices which activated by an electric power source which is switched by a position sensor system.
2/ A marker float as in claim 1 which comprises of a hollow enclosure with a opening on one side which can be sealed with a cap to ensure the enclosure is water tight.
3/ A marker float as in claim 1 wherein the light propagating devices are filament lamps or a light emitting diodes.
4/ A marker float as in claim 1 wherein the light propagation devices will illuminate when not in a vertical position.
5/ A marker float as in claim 1 wherein the power source is a battery cell or cells which can be rechargeable or non rechargeable.
6/ A marker float as in claim 1 wherein the position sensor detects the position of the marker float and disconnects the power to the light propagating devices when the marker float is in a horizontal position.
7/ A marker float as in claim 1, wherein the hollow enclosure has a threaded screw system to allow the enclosure to be split in to two units allowing access to some of the internal components.
8/ A marker float as in claim 1, wherein, the enclosure allows a fishing line to be secured at one end of the enclosure.
9/ A marker float as in claim 1 for use with a rod and line substantially as described herein with reference to the drawings.
