Abstract

A subsea control system comprises: at least one electrical cable (12, 14) having first and second points spaced apart along the length of the electrical cable or cables; a power supply electrically (6) connected to said first point, and arranged to supply a first alternating voltage to said first point; at least one subsea control device (4), for assisting in the control of a subsea oil and gas production system, said subsea control device being electrically connected to said second point so as to receive at said second point a second alternating voltage as a result of transmission along said cable or cables of said first alternating voltage; and • a voltage regulator (8) for varying the magnitude of said first alternating voltage in dependence on the electrical load applied to said second point.
