Abstract
A packaging machine 100 has an article conveyor 10; an article inlet 13 upstream of the article conveyor 10; a blank placement 71 upstream of the article conveyor 10; a blank folder 73; a retainer 56 to hold the box B; and a box conveyor 51 between the folder and the retainer via below the article conveyor 10. The lines being vertically displaced saves on floor space. There can be a laterally arranged inspection part upstream of the article inlet. There can be an accumulating conveyor 12 wider than the feed conveyor 11 in which a robot 20 can assemble groups of articles for another robot 30 to transfer to the box B. A disposal part 14 could collect articles not transferred to the accumulation belt and an outlet AS dispenses packaged boxes. The robots could move faster than the conveyors. DESCRIPTION
BOXING APPARATUS
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to a boxing apparatus.
BACKGROUND ART
The manufacture of articles packaged in a pouch-form film ends with a packing operation in which a plurality of articles is packed into a cardboard box or another packing box for shipment. Recently, operations of arranging a plurality of articles in advance and packing the articles are performed automatically by boxing apparatuses.
Furthermore, in manufacture scenes, an operation of manufacturing the boxes is also performed prior to the packing operation. Specifically, an unmanufactured box sheet which is cylindrical and flat is folded along creases and three-dimensionally shaped so that the shape of the box can be maintained by adhesive tape. Such box manufacturing operation is also often automated by machinery.
The apparatus disclosed in Patent Literature 1 (Japanese Laid-open Patent Application No. 2013-18519) carries out the packing operation. This apparatus includes two orthogonal conveyors and therefore requires a large floor area to be installed in a factory. The apparatus disclosed in Patent Literature 2 (Japanese Laid-open Patent Application No. 7-125110) carries out the box-manufacturing operation. This apparatus is disclosed singularly, and specifics of a packing operation are not mentioned.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
<Technical Problem> In a factory built in a limited ground area, many manufacturing apparatuses need to be installed close together in order to ensure the throughput i.e., the production volume per unit time, of the entire production facility for the products. A profitable measure for it includes optimization of the structures of the entire boxing apparatus that are involved in the operations of arranging the articles in advance, manufacturing the boxes, and packing, whereby reducing the space occupied by the boxing apparatus.
An object of the present invention is to improve the throughput of the entire production facility in a factory by reducing the space occupied by a boxing apparatus or by other contrivance.
<Sol uti on to Probl em> A boxing apparatus according to a first aspect of the present invention occupies from an upstream end to a downstream end. The boxing apparatus is configured to pack a plurality of articles into a box. The boxing apparatus comprises an article conveyor, an article inlet, a box sheet placement part, a box shaping part, a packing part, and a box feed conveyor. The article conveyor moves the articles in a direction from the upstream end toward the downstream end. The article inlet is arranged closer to the upstream end than the article conveyor. The box sheet placement part is arranged closer to the upstream end than the article conveyor. The box shaping folds a box sheet placed on the box sheet placement part to shape the box. The packing part is arranged closer to the downstream end than the article conveyor and is configured to keep the box in order to pack the articles in the box. The box feed conveyor moves the box from the box shaping part, via below the article conveyor, to the packing part.
With this configuration, the boxing apparatus comprises a article conveyor for moving the articles in a direction from the upstream end of the boxing apparatus toward the downstream end, a box sheet placement part arranged closer to the upstream end than the article conveyor, and a box feed conveyor for moving the box below the article conveyor to the packing part. Therefore, the box sheet or the shaped box moves below the conveyor from the upstream side to the downstream side of the feeddirection, and the space between the article conveyor and the upstream end and the empty space below the article conveyor are therefore effectively utilized in order to move the box. As a result, the entire space occupied by the boxing apparatus can be reduced.
A boxing apparatus according to a second aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to the first aspect, further comprising an article inspection part arranged closer to the upstream end than the article inlet.
With this configuration, articles are scanned by the article inspection part in the preceding stage of the packing step. Therefore, abnormal articles can be restrained from being packed into boxes.
A boxing apparatus according to a third aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to the second aspect, wherein the article inspection part and the box sheet placement part are aligned in a lateral direction of the boxing apparatus.
With this configuration, the box sheet placement part is arranged in an empty space in the vicinity of the upstream end of a conventional boxing apparatus. Therefore, the boxing apparatus can utilize space efficiently.
A boxing apparatus according to a fourth aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to any of the first through third aspects, wherein the article conveyor includes an article feed conveyor, an article accumulation conveyor, and an accumulation mechanism. The article feed conveyor conveys, one at a time in a feed direction, the articles entering at the article inlet. The article accumulation conveyor is configured to accumulate the plurality of articles. The accumulation mechanism lifts up the articles conveyed by the article feed conveyor and places the articles on the article accumulation conveyor.
With this configuration, it is possible to effectively accumulate a plurality of articles successively ejected by a packaging machine at its own timing, the packaging machine being installed in the preceding stage of the boxing apparatus.
A boxing apparatus according to a fifth aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to the fourth aspect, wherein a width of the article accumulation conveyor is equal to or greater a the width of the article feed conveyor.
With this configuration, articles can be accumulated in a variety of ways.
A boxing apparatus according to a sixth aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to the fourth or fifth aspect, further comprising an article disposal part.
The article disposal part receives the articles that has not been lifted up by the accumulation mechanism. The article disposal part is arranged closer to the downstream end than the article feed conveyor.
With this configuration, articles neglected by the accumulation mechanism are carried to the article disposal part only by the means that is the article feed conveyor.
Therefore, the article conveyor does not need a special automatic ejecting mechanism for disposing articles not packed into the box.
Furthermore, the operation of separateing defective articles discovered by the article inspection part can be delegated to the article feed conveyor and the accumulation mechanism. Therefore, the article inspection part does not need a special automatic ejecting mechanism for separateing defective articles, either.
A boxing apparatus according to a seventh aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to any of the fourth through sixth aspects, further comprising an article group movement mechanism. The article group movement mechanism lifts up at one time an article group including the articles accumulated by the accumulation mechanism, and packs the articles into the box kept on the packing part.
With this configuration, the packing part is arranged downstream of the article accumulation conveyor. Therefore, when a article group is lifted up to be packed in a box, the article group can be brought closer to the packing part by the article accumulation conveyor, and the packing operation can therefore be carried out faster.
A boxing apparatus according to an eighth aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to the seventh aspect, wherein the article group movement mechanism has a head for lifting up the article group. The article group movement mechanism moves the head in the feed direction when causing the head to lift up the article group.
With this configuration, the head is moved in the feed direction when lifting up the article group. Therefore, there is no need for the article accumulation conveyor to stop when the article group is lifted up, and the packing operation can therefore be carried out faster.
A boxing apparatus according to a ninth aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to the eighth aspect, wherein, when the article group movement mechanism causes the head to lift up the article group, a movement speed at which the head is moved in the feed direction is substantially equal to a feed speed at which the article accumulation conveyor conveys the articles.
With this configuration, the movement speed at which the head is moved when lifting up a article group can be set to substantially the same as the feed speed of the article accumulation conveyor. Therefore, the relative speed of the head in relation to the article accumulation conveyor is close to zero, and the action of lifting up the article group can be stabilized.
A boxing apparatus according to a tenth aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to the ninth aspect, wherein, after causing the head to lift up the article group, the article group movement mechanism causes the head to move in the feed direction at a higher speed than the feed speed.
With this configuration, after the article group is lifted up, the head can be moved to the packing part at a high speed. Therefore, the packing operation can be carried out even faster.
A boxing apparatus according to an eleventh aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to any of the first through tenth aspects, wherein the box shaping part is arranged below the article conveyor.
With this configuration, the operation of shaping the box is performed below the article conveyor. Therefore, the empty space below the article conveyor can be effectively utilized, and the space occupied by the boxing apparatus can be reduced.
A boxing apparatus according to a twelfth aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to any of the first through eleventh aspects, further comprising a tape-attaching part configured to attach adhesive tape to the box. The tape-attaching part is arranged between the box shaping part and the packing part. The tape-attaching part is arranged below the article conveyor.
With this configuration, the operation of attaching tape to the box is performed below the article conveyor. Therefore, the empty space below the article conveyor can be effectively utilized.
A boxing apparatus according to a thirteenth aspect of the present invention is the boxing apparatus according to any of the first through twelfth aspects, further comprising an end box transfer port and an end box eject mechanism. The end box transfer port is arranged at an end other than the upstream end and the downstream end in the boxing apparatus in order to deliver and receive the box. The end box eject mechanism ejects the box from the end box transfer port.
With this configuration, a plurality of boxing apparatuses can receive boxes through their respective end box transfer ports. Therefore, a plurality of boxing apparatuses can 15 share a common mechanism for performing the operation of manufacturing the boxes.
A boxing system according to a fourteenth aspect of the present invention comprises a first boxing apparatus and a second boxing apparatus. The first boxing apparatus is the boxing apparatus according to the thirteenth aspect. The second boxing apparatus is arranged in alignment with the first boxing apparatus. The second boxing apparatus occupies from an upstream end to a downstream end. The second boxing apparatus comprises an article conveyor, an article inlet, a packing part, a box feed conveyor, and an end box transfer port. The article conveyor moves the articles in a direction from the upstream end toward the downstream end. The article inlet is arranged closer to the upstream end than the article conveyor. The packing part is arranged closer to the downstream end than the article conveyor, and is configured to keep the box in order to pack the articles in the box. The box feed conveyor moves the box via below the article conveyor to the packing part. The end box transfer port is arranged at an end other than the upstream end and the downstream end in the boxing apparatus in order to deliver and receive the box. The second boxing apparatus can receive the box ejected from the end box transfer port of the first boxing apparatus at the end box transfer port of the second boxing apparatus in order to pack the articles in the box.
With this configuration, two boxing apparatuses included in the boxing system can share a common mechanism for performing the operation of manufacturing boxes. <Advantageous Effects of Invention> The boxing apparatus according to the first, eleventh, and twelfth aspects of the present invention occupies less space, whereby the throughput of the manufacturing facility is improved.
In the boxing apparatus according to the second aspect of the present invention, 0 abnormal articles can be restrained from being packed into boxes.
In the boxing apparatus according to the third aspect of the present invention, space can be utilized efficiently.
In the boxing apparatus according to the fourth aspect of the present invention, articles can be effectively accumulated.
In the boxing apparatus according to the fifth aspect of the present invention, articles can be accumulated in a variety of ways.
In the boxing apparatus according to the sixth aspect of the present invention, a special automatic ejecting mechanism for disposing articles is not needed In the boxing apparatus according to the seventh, eighth, and tenth aspects of the present invention, the packing operation is carried out faster, whereby the throughput of the manufacturing facility is improved.
In the boxing apparatus according to the ninth aspect of the present invention, the action of lifting up a article group is stabilized.
In the plurality of boxing apparatuses according to the thirteenth aspect of the present invention, the mechanism for manufacturing the boxes can be shared.

DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS
<First Embodiment> (1) Overall configuration FIG I is a plan view of a boxing apparatus 100 according to the first embodiment of 0 the present invention. The boxing apparatus 100 is for aligning a plurality of articles P conveyed from a preceding apparatus conveyor AP, packaging the articles into a box B, and delivering the box to a subsequent apparatus conveyor AS The boxing apparatus 100 occupies a space from an upstream end 110 to a downstream end 120. The boxing apparatus 100 comprises a article inspection part 60, a box manufacturing part 70, and a article arranging part 80.

In the boxing apparatus 100, different operations are performed in the second level section shown in FIG 3 and the first level section shown in FIG 4.
(2) Detailed Configuration (2-1) Article inspection part 60 The article inspection part 60 is provided near the upstream end 110 of the boxing apparatus 100, as shown in FIG 1. Furthermore, the article inspection part 60 is provided in the second level section of the boxing apparatus 100, as shown in FIG 3.
The article inspection part 60 is used for inspecting the weight, the state of the attached label, the presence of foreign objects inside, and other attributes of the articles P just delivered by the preceding apparatus conveyor AP. A signal representing the inspection results sent by the article inspection part 60 is transmitted via a signal line (not shown) and received by the article arranging part 80.

(2-3-2) Accumulation mechanism 20 The accumulation mechanism 20 is for cooperating with the article conveyor 10 to accumulate a plurality of articles P arid create an article group G Specifically, the articles P carried on the article feed conveyor 11 are lifted up one at a time and accumulated on the article-accumulation conveyor 12 by the accumulation mechanism 20.
FIG. 5 shows the manner in which a two-dimensionally aligned article group G is accumulated. The accumulation mechanism 20 can also accumulate articles P in various other ways to create article groups Q such as the articles partially overlapping and being aligned in a single row.
The accumulation mechanism 20 is configured from, e.g., a parallel-link robot, and is secured to the frame 81 (FIG. 1). The accumulation mechanism 20 has an accumulation head 21, a plurality of accumulation suction-holding tools 22, three arms 23, a servo mechanism 24, and a suction tube 25.
The servo mechanism 24 moves the accumulation head 21 three-dimensionally or rotates by means of the arms 23. The plurality of accumulation suction-holding tools 22 are provided to the accumulation head 21. The suction tube 25 enables the internal spaces of the accumulation suction-holding tools 22 to communicate with an illustrated vacuum pump. The vacuum pump sucks in air when the accumulation suction-holding tools 22 make contact with an article P, whereby the accumulation head 21 can lift up one article P. When information pertaining to a defective article is included within an inspection result signal sent from the article inspection part 60 and received by the article arranging part 80, the accumulation mechanism 20 can forgo the action of lifting up the article P. In this case, the article P neglected by the accumulation mechanism 20 is conveyed by the article feed conveyor 11 and drops into the article disposal part 14.
When the article feed conveyor 11 has conveyed so many articles P as the accumulation mechanism 20 cannot utilize them in the accumulating action, the accumulation mechanism 20 can neglect some of these articles and drop them into the article disposal part 14.
(2-3-3) Article group movement mechanism 30 The article group movement mechanism 30 is for lifting up article groups G and packing them into a box B. The article group movement mechanism 30 is configured from a robot and is secured to the frame 81 (FIG 1). The article group movement mechanism 30 has a packing head 31, packing suction-holding tools 32, a mast 33, a movement guide 34, a U-shaped tube 35, a flexible hose 36, and a pump suction port 37.
The movement guide 34, which has an unillustrated motor, is able to move the mast 33 in the x-axis direction or z-axis direction shown in FIG 5. Therefore, the packing head 31 provided to the distal end of the mast 33 can move through the xz plane. Multitude of packing suction-holding tools 32 are provided to the packing head 31, which is larger than the accumulation head 21, and this accumulation head 21 is able to all at once lift up a plurality of articles P constituting a article group G The internal spaces of the packing suction-holding tools 32 communicate with an unillustrated vacuum pump via the interior of the mast 33, the U-shaped tube 35, the flexible hose 36, and the pump suction port 37. The vacuum pump sucks in air when the packing suction-holding tools 32 have adhered to a article group G, whereby the packing head 31 can lift up the article group G all at once.
The flexible hose 36 may pulsate while the vacuum pump is sucking air. If such pulsation is transferred to the packing head 31, needless force might be exerted on the packing head 31 and there might be a risk that the packing action could be adversely affected.
The U-shaped tube 35 suppresses such pulsation from being transferred to the packing head 31.
(2-3-4) Box handling part 50 The box handling part 50 is for moving the box B during the packing action The box handling part 50 has a box feed conveyor 51, a box delivering conveyor 52, an end box eject mechanism 53, end box transfer ports 54, 55, and a packing part 56 A box B exiting the tape-attaching part 74 is conveyed by the box feed conveyor 51 to the packing part 56 The packing part 56 is a portion of the surface of the box feed conveyor Si, which is located closer to the downstream end 120 (FIG 1) than the article-accumulation conveyor 12 and below the article group movement mechanism 30. A article group G is packed all at once by the article group movement mechanism 30 into a box B waiting on the packing part 56. After this packing operation has been repeated several times for one box B, the box feed conveyor 51 moves the box B and transfers the box B to the subsequent apparatus conveyor AS.
(3) Actions Articles P conveyed one at a time from the preceding apparatus conveyor AP are delivered to the article arranging part 80 at the article inlet 13 after being inspected by the article inspection part 60. At the same time, the article inspection part 60 sends signals of the results of inspecting the articles P to the article arranging part 80.
In the box manufacturing part 70, a manufacturing operation is performed for the boxes B. One box sheet S is dropped from the box sheet placement part 71, and the box sheet ejection part 72 sends the sheet to the box-shaping part 73. The box-shaping part 73 folds the box sheet S to make a box B. The tape attaching part 74 attaches adhesive tape to the bottom surface of the box B, and the shape of the box B is maintained. The box feed conveyor 51 then conveys the box B to the packing part 56, where the box B waits with the top part open.
In the article arranging part 80, articles P conveyed one at a time on the article feed conveyor 11 are accumulated on the article-accumulation conveyor 12 by the accumulation mechanism 20, and the articles are aligned as a article group G The article group movement mechanism 30 lifts up the article group G all at once and packs the group into the box B waiting in the packing part 56. After the packing operation has been repeated several times, the box feed conveyor 51 ejects the box B and the box is delivered to the subsequent apparatus conveyor AS.
(4) Characteristics (4-1) Because the box sheet S or the shaped box B moves below the article conveyor 10 from the upstream side to the downstream side of the feed direction x, the space between the article conveyor 10 and the upstream end 110 and the empty space below the article conveyor 10 are effectively utilized in order to move the box B. As a result, the entire space occupied by the boxing apparatus 100 can be reduced. (4-2)
Before the packing operation, the articles P are inspected by the article inspection part 60. Therefore, abnormal articles P can be restrained from being packed into the box B.
II (4-3)
The box sheet placement part 71 is arranged in a space in the vicinity of the upstream end 110 of the boxing apparatus 100. Therefore, the boxing apparatus 100 can utilize space efficiently.
0 (4-4) The boxing apparatus 100 has two conveyors: the article feed conveyor 11 and the article-accumulation conveyor 12. Therefore, the boxing apparatus 100 can effectively accumulate a plurality of articles P successively ejected by a machine at its own timing, the machine being installed in the preceding stage of the boxing apparatus 100. (4-5)
The article-accumulation conveyor 12 has a large width equal to or greater than the width of the article feed conveyor 11. Therefore, the boxing apparatus 100 can accumulate articles in a variety of ways, such as the articles being two-dimensionally aligned or partially overlapping and aligned in a single row. (4-6)
Articles neglected by the accumulation mechanism 20 are carried to the article disposal part 14 only by the means that is the article feed conveyor 11. Therefore, the article conveyor 10 does not need a special automatic ejecting mechanism for disposing articles P that have missed the opportunity to be packed into the box B due to multitude of articles P being conveyed in a short amount of time.
Furthermore, the operation of separateing defective articles discovered by the article inspection part 60 can be delegated to the article feed conveyor 11 and the accumulation mechanism 20. Therefore, the article inspection part 60 does not need a special automatic ejecting mechanism for separateing defective articles, either. (4-7)
The packing part 56 is arranged downstream of the article-accumulation conveyor 12. Therefore, when a article group G is lifted up to be packed in a box, the article group G can be brought closer to the packing part 56 by the article-accumulation conveyor 12, and the packing operation can therefore be carried out faster. (4-8)
The packing head 31 is moved in the feed direction x when a article group G is lifted up. Therefore, there is no need for the article-accumulation conveyor 12 to stop when a article group G is lifted up, and the packing operation can therefore be carried out faster. (4-9)
The movement speed at which the packing head 31 is moved when lifting up a article group G can be set to be substantially the same as the feed speed of the article-accumulation conveyor 12 Therefore, the relative speed of the packing head 31 in relation to the article-accumulation conveyor 12 is close to zero, and the action of lifting up the article 0 group G can be stabilized.
(4-10) After the article group G is lifted up, the packing head 31 can be moved to the packing part 56 at a high speed. Therefore, the packing operation can be carried out even faster.
(4-11) The box-shaping part 73, which performs the operation of shaping the box B, is located below the article conveyor 10. Therefore, the empty space below the article conveyor 10 is effectively utilized, and the space occupied by the boxing apparatus 100 can be reduced.
(4-12) The tape-attaching part 74, which performs the operation of attaching tape to the box B, is located below the article conveyor 10. Therefore, the empty space below the article conveyor 10 can be effectively utilized.
(5) Modifications (5-1) In the boxing apparatus 100 according to the first embodiment, the box-shaping part 73 and the tape-attaching part 74 are installed within the frame 81 of the article arranging part 80. Instead, either one or both of the box-shaping part 73 and the tape-attaching part 74 may be installed outside of the frame 81.
With this configuration, the space below the article conveyor 10 can be used for purposes other than partially accommodating the box-manufacturing part 70. (5-2)
In the boxing apparatus 100 according to the first embodiment, no particular means was provided for attaching adhesive tape in order to close the top surface of the box B after the packing step. Instead, an additional tape-attaching part for attaching adhesive tape to the top surface of the box B may be provided closer to the downstream end 120 than the packing part 56.
With this configuration, a completely sealed box B is ejected after the packing step, and the manual operation can therefore be further reduced. 1.3 (5-3)
In the boxing apparatus 100 according to the first embodiment, the tape-attaching part 74 was arranged closer to the upstream end 110 than the packing part 56, and was used solely for the purpose of closing the bottom surface of the box B. Instead of the tape-r 0 attaching part 74 being arranged closer to the upstream end 110 than the packing part 56, the tape-attaching part 74 may be arranged closer to the downstream end 120 than the packing part 56, and tape may thereby be attached all at once to both the top and bottom surfaces of the box.
With this configuration, other machinery is readily installed in a location closer to the upstream end 110 than the packing part 56. (5-4)
In the embodiment described above, the article group G assembled by the accumulation mechanism 20 was composed of two-dimensionally aligned articles P. Instead, the article group G assembled by the accumulation mechanism 20 may be in a variety of other forms, such as being composed of articles P that are partially overlapping and aligned in a single row. (5-5)
In the above embodiment, the boxes B were supplied to the boxing apparatus 100 from the upstream side of the feed direction x. Instead, the boxes B may be supplied to the boxing apparatus 100 from another direction besides the feed direction x, such as y direction. (5-6)
In the above embodiment, the box sheets S were supplied to the boxing apparatus 100 and the boxing apparatus 100 created boxes B from the box sheets S. Instead, already shaped boxes B may be supplied to the boxing apparatus 100. (5-7)
Changes to the arrangements and/or shapes of the various structural components, additions of other mechanisms, and all other changes can be freely carried out within a range that does not deviate from the ideals and intentions of the present invention.
<Second Embodiment> (1) Overall configuration FIG. 6 is a plan view of a boxing system 200 according to a second embodiment of the present invention. The boxing system 200 has a first boxing apparatus 100A and a second boxing apparatus 100B. The first boxing apparatus 100A has the same configuration as the boxing apparatus 100 according to the first embodiment previously described. The second boxing apparatus 100B is common to the boxing apparatus 100 in having a article inspection part 60B and an article arranging part 80B, but is different from the boxing apparatus 100 in lacking a box-manufacturing part 70. Additionally, the arrangement of structural elements in the second boxing apparatus 100B is symmetrical to that of the structural elements of the first boxing apparatus 100A.
(2) Actions Manufacturing of the boxes B is performed only by a box-manufacturing part 70A of the first boxing apparatus 100A.
FIG 7 is a drawing showing the first level section of the boxing system 200. Box sheets S supplied from a box sheet ejection part 72A of the first boxing apparatus 100A are shaped by a box-shaping part 73A, and adhesive tape is attached to the bottom surfaces of the sheets by a tape-attaching part 74A.
The packing operation is then performed by both the first boxing apparatus 100A and the second boxing apparatus 100B.
In preparation for the packing operation in the first boxing apparatus 100A, a box B is conveyed from the tape-attaching part 74A to a packing part 56A by a box feed conveyor 51A of a box-handling part 50A of the first boxing apparatus 100A.
In preparation for the packing operation in the second boxing apparatus 100B, the box B is first pushed out in the direction y which is orthogonal to the feed direction x and sent to a box-delivering conveyor 52A by the end box eject mechanism 53 (FIG 5) of the first boxing apparatus 100A. Next, the box-delivering conveyor 52 of the first boxing apparatus 100A ejects the box B out of an end box transfer port 55A. Next, in the second boxing apparatus 100B, the box B passes through an end box transfer port 55B and then through a box-delivering conveyor 52B to be sent to a box feed conveyor 51B of a box-handling part 50B. Then, the box B is conveyed to a packing part 56B by the box feed conveyor 51B.
(3) Characteristic The first boxing apparatus 100A and the second boxing apparatus 100B can receive boxes through their respective end box transfer ports 55A, 55B. Therefore, the first boxing apparatus 100A and the second boxing apparatus 100B share a common box-manufacturing part 70A.
(4) Modifications The modifications of the boxing apparatus 100 according to the first embodiment may be applied to either one or both of the first boxing apparatus 100A and the second boxing apparatus 100B of the boxing system 200 according to the second embodiment.

Claims (8)
- CLAIMS1. A boxing apparatus occupying from an upstream end to a downstream end and configured to pack a plurality of articles into a box, the boxing apparatus comprising: an article conveyor for moving the articles in a direction from the upstream end toward the downstream end; an article inlet arranged closer to the upstream end than the article conveyor; a box sheet placement part arranged closer to the upstream end than the article conveyor; a box shaping part for folding a box sheet placed on the box sheet placement part to shape the box; a packing part arranged closer to the downstream end than the article conveyor and configured to keep the box in order to pack the articles in the box; and a box feed conveyor for moving the box from the box shaping part via below the article conveyor, to the packing part.
- 2. The boxing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising: an article inspection part arranged closer to the upstream end than the article inlet.
- 3. The boxing apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the article inspection part and the box sheet placement part are aligned in a lateral direction of the boxing apparatus.
- 4. The boxing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 3, wherein the article conveyor includes: an article feed conveyor for conveying, one at a time in a feed direction, the articles entering at the article inlet, an article-accumulation conveyor configured to accumulate the plurality of articles; and an accumulation mechanism for lifting up the articles conveyed by the article feed conveyor and placing the articles on the article-accumulation conveyor.
- 5. The boxing apparatus according to claim 4, wherein a width of the article-accumulation conveyor is equal to or greater than a width of the article feed conveyor.
- 6 The boxing apparatus according to claim 4 or 5, further comprising; an article disposal part for receiving the articles that has not been lifted up by the accumulation mechanism, the article disposal part being arranged closer to the downstream end than the article feed conveyor.
- 7. The boxing apparatus according to any of claims 4 too, further comprising: an article group movement mechanism for lifting up at one time an article group including the articles accumulated by the accumulation mechanism, and packing the articles into the box kept on the packing part.
- 8. The boxing apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the article group movement mechanism has a head for lifting up the article group; and the article group movement mechanism moves the head in the feed direction when causing the head to lift up the article group.9 The boxing apparatus according to claim 8, wherein when the article group movement mechanism causes the head to lift up the article group, a movement speed at which the head is moved in the feed direction is substantially equal to a feed speed at which the article-accumulation conveyor conveys the articles.The boxing apparatus according to claim 9, wherein after causing the head to lift up the article group, the article group movement mechanism causes the head to move in the feed direction at a higher speed than the feed speed.11 The boxing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 10, wherein the box shaping part is arranged below the article conveyor.12 The boxing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 11, further comprising: a tape-attaching part arranged between the box shaping part and the packing part and configured to attach adhesive tape to the box; the tape-attaching part being arranged below the article conveyor.13 The boxing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 12, further comprising: an end box transfer port arranged at an end other than the upstream end and the downstream end in the boxing apparatus in order to deliver and receive the box; and an end box eject mechanism for ejecting the box from the end box transfer port.14 A boxing system comprising: a first boxing apparatus, which is the boxing apparatus according to claim 13; and a second boxing apparatus arranged in alignment with the first boxing apparatus; the second boxing apparatus occupying from an upstream end to a downstream end, and comprising: an article conveyor for moving the articles in a direction from the upstream end toward the downstream end; an article inlet arranged closer to the upstream end than the article conveyor; a packing part arranged closer to the downstream end than the article conveyor and configured to keep the box in place in order to pack the articles in the box; a box feed conveyor for moving the box via below the article conveyor to the packing part; and an end box transfer port arranged at an end other than the upstream end and the downstream end in the boxing apparatus in order to deliver and receive the box; and the second boxing apparatus being able to receive the box ejected from the end box transfer port of the first boxing apparatus at the end box transfer port of the second boxing apparatus in order to pack the articles in the box.
