Description

TOUCH-PAD DISPENSING DEVICE.
DESCRIPTION:
THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A TOUCH-PAD DEVICE FOR DISPENSING A VIRTUALLY DRY, OR DRY-TOTHE-TOUCH MIX OF SANITISING OR OTHER AGENTS DIRECTLY ONTO THE HAND OF THE USER,IN PARTICULAR WITHOUT THE NEED TO WASH OR DRY THE HANDS BEFORE OR AFTER USE.
MANY TYPES OF WET DISPENSERS ARE READILY AVAILABLE, INCLUDING ONES WHICH USE A SPONGE-LIKE MATERIAL TO HOLD AND DISPENSE A WET DOSE OF SANITISOR FLUID WHICH WHEN TOUCHED DISPENSES A WET DOSE. HOWEVER, RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT AMONG THE PUBLIC THERE IS GREAT RESISTANCE TO TOUCHING ANYTHING THAT DELIVERS A WET DOSE. BOTTLE TYPE DISPENSORS HAVE BEEN SHOWN TO BE MORE ACCEPTABLE BUT NEVERTHELESS OFTEN REQUIRE THE AFTER-USE OF A TOWEL OR TISSUES WHICH IN THEMSELVES CREATE SERIOUS PROBLEMS OF CROSS INFECTION AND DIRTY LITTER, PLUS, THESE CONTAINERS BECOME EMPTY DIRTY AND °SECTIONAL THEREBY REQUIRING COSTLY LABOUR TO RE-FILL, CLEAN, OR OTHERWISE DISPOSE OF. IT IS THE PRINCIPAL AIM OF THIS INVENTION TO OVERCOME THESE PROBLEMS BY PROVIDING AN INVENTIVE AND INNOVATIVE METHOD OF DISPENSING AND THEREFORE RECEIVING A DRY DOSE OF SANITISING AGENT.
THIS DEVICE STORES AND AUTOMATICALLY DISPENSES A LARGE DRY DOSE OF SANITISING AGENTS WHICH FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS PATENT APPLICATION THE TERM 'DRY DOSE' IS DEFINED AS BEING; VIRTUALLY DRY OR DRY-TO-THE TOUCH OF LIQUID OR MOISTURE. THE SANITISING AGENTS COMPRISE AMONGST OTHER THINGS; VARIOUS AGENTS, REAGENTS, GELS, ANTIBIOTICS ANTI-VIRAL AGENTS WITH OR WITHOUT, OTHER COMPOUNDS SUCH AS VAPOURISING DEODOURANTS, REPELLANTS, ADHESIVES, COLOURANTS, AGENTS, REAGENTS,WATER RESISTANT AGENTS, ETC. HEREINAFTER THESE COMPOUNDS HOWSOEVER FORMED OR COMPOUNDED ARE REFERRED TO IN THEIR GENERALITY AS THE MIX OR, THE DOSE.
IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT COMMON INFECTIOUS BACTERIAL AND OR VIRAL DISEASES ARE MAINLY SPREAD BY BODILY FLUIDS, EITHER BY WAY OF TOUCH, AIRBORNE DROPLETS AS IN COUGHING, SNEEZING, AND OR, OTHER FORMS OF THIRD-PARTY TRANSMISSION.
IN PARTICULAR, TOILET AND SICK-ROOM DOOR-HANDLES, STAIR SAFETY RAILS AND MANY OTHER COMMONLY TOUCHED FIXTURES AND FITTINGS ARE EXTREMELY PRONE TO BACTERIAL AND VIRAL INFECTION AND CROSS-INFECTION; THEY CREATE A HIGHLY VIRULENT CIRCLE OF DEADLY CONTAMINATION WHICH IS OFTEN FATAL. ALTHOUGH PEOPLE ARE ENCOURAGED BY NOTICES TO WASH OR SANITISE THEIR HANDS BEFORE ENTERING OR LEAVING TOILET FACILITIES, CLEAN AREAS AND OTHER GENERAL MEDICAL FACILITIES, THEY OFTEN FAIL TO DO SO FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS, COMMONLY, HAND-GEL DISPENSORS ARE LEFT EMPTY, TOWELS LEFT DIRTY AND USERS ARE LEFT WITH WET HANDS OF AN INFECTIOUS NATURE.
THIS INVENTION PROVIDES A NOVEL AND INVENTIVE WAY OF OVERCOMING THESE PROBLEMS BY WAY OF A SIMPLE TOUCH OF THE HAND AGAINST A TOUCH-PAD DISPENSER WHICH IS PREPARED WITH AN ENHANCED AND PROTUDING LEVEL OF THE MIX PRE-PRINTED OR OTHERWISE APPLIED WITHIN DEEP ANCHORING RESERVOIRS SPECIALLY APPLIED THERETO 4.
AS REFERRED TO ABOVE, THIS INVENTION DISPENSES A DRY DOSE OF THE MIX DIRECT FROM THE TOUCH-PAD, WITH NO HAND-DRYING MEDIUM NEEDED, WHEREAS A WET APPLICATION REQUIRES A FOLLOW ON TOWEL OR TISSUE, BOTH OF WHICH HARBOUR GERMS AND CREATE LITTER. IMPORTANTLY, THIS INVENTION PROVIDES A NOVEL AND INVENTIVE WAY FOR DOSES OF THE MIX TO BE MECHANICALLY PRINTED ON, OR OTHERWISE APPLIED DIRECTLY ONTO THE SPECIALLY PREPARED TOUCH-PADS WITH SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED PROFILES IN THE VARIABLE FORMS OF GLOBULES, BOBBLES, DIMPLES, AND PIMPLES ETC. 4.
DURING PROCESS, THE RAISED PROFILES OF THE MIX REFERRED TO ABOVE, ARE APPLIED AND ANCHORED IN, OR GENERALLY RETAINED IN, OVER, OR AROUND THE RESERVOIRS BY REDUCING THE VISCOSITY OF THE MIX WITH THICKENING AGENTS, AND VARIOUS OTHER AGENTS, OR BY LOWERING ITS TEMPERATURE,AND OR, BY DRYING WITH AN ULTRA-VIOLET DRYING PROCESS, ALL OR ANY OF THESE METHODS CAN BE USED TO DECREASE THE VISCOSITY OF THE MIX, THEREBY PROVIDING A MORE RIGID, DURABLE,RAISED SURFACE WHICH FACILITATES AN INCREASED LEVEL OF THE MIX BEING STORED AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE AMOUNT OF THE MIX BEING DISPENSED BY TOUCH, THE SAME APPLIES TO A FLAT DISPENSING SURFACE APPLIED TO THE FACE OF THE TOUCH-PAD, AS OPPOSED TO OTHER FORMS OF A RAISED PROFILE AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.
IMPORTANTLY, IT ALSO PROVIDES FOR AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER AND TYPES OF AGENTS WHICH CONSTITUTE THE MIX, THEREBY FACILITATING THE INCLUSION OF DISINFECTANTS, ANTI-BACTERIAL AND ANTIVIRAL COMPOUNDS TO SPECIFICALLY TARGET VIRULENT CONTAGENS LIKE NOROVIRUS, CAMPYLOBACTER, STREPTOCOCCAL AND OTHERS.
BECAUSE OF AN INCREASED STORAGE CAPACITY IT THEREFORE HAS A LONGER OPERATIONAL LIFETIME COMBINED WITH A GREATER EFFICACY OF DISEASE CONTROL.
IT PROVIDES FOR DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE MIX AND OR, THE TOUCH-PAD OR STORAGE MEDIUM TO BE DESIGNED AND OR APPLIED WITH DIFFERENT COLOURS AS IN THE EXAMPLE OF A PICTURE OR LOGO 17. ETC.
INDIVIDUAL APPLICATIONS OF THE MIX MAY BE APPLIED SIMULTANEOUSLY OR SEPARATELY IN ORDER TO CREATE A SITUATION WHEREBY ONE OR MORE NOTICES MAY BE REVEALED AS THE LEVEL OF THE MIX IS GRADUALLY DIMINISHED BY THE NUMBER OF TOUCHES OR NATURAL EVAPORATION UNTIL A SUITABLE RENEWAL OR OTHER NOTICE IS DISCLOSED.
THIS INVENTION MAY BE CONSTRUCTED IN A VARIETY OF SHAPES AND OR COLOURS PARTICULARLY SYMBOLIC SHAPES. FOR EXAMPLE, AN OPEN-HAND WITH OUT-STRETCHED FINGERS, SILENTLY INVITING THE USER TO 'PRESS HERE' 17. OR STRIPS 18. WHICH CAN BE DESIGNED TO BE WRAPPED AROUND, OR OTHERWISE AFFIXED BY A PEEL-OFF ADHESIVE BACKING TO HANDLES STAIR RAILS OR OTHER FIXTURES AND FITTINGS? IN GENERAL SUCH ITEMS, WHICH UNLESS SPECIFICALLY DESCRIBED OTHERWISE, MAY BE REFERRED TO HEREIN SINGULARLY OR COLLECTIVELY AS FIXTURES AND FITTINGS.
WHEN TOUCHED, THIS INVENTION AUTOMATICALLY DISPENSES A DOSE OF THE MIX DIRECTLY ONTO THE HAND OF THE USER.
IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IN MANY COUNTRIES, A LACK OF ADEQUATE INFECTION CONTROL PROCEDURES, EITHER IN THE HOME, WORKPLACE, OR OTHER COMMERCIAL SITUATIONS, IN PARTICULAR, CROWDED PLACES SUCH AS; HOSPITALS, CRUISE SHIPS, HOTELS, RESTAURANTS, SCHOOLS, AIRLINES ETC ARE USUALLY COVERED BY LEGISLATION.
IN ADDITION TO ACTUAL FATALITIES AND SERIOUS ILLNESSES, SUCH SITUATIONS LEAD TO VARIOUS KINDS OF PERSONAL INJURY AND OTHER FORMS OF LITIGATION. THIS OFTEN RESULTS IN CANCELLATION OR ABANDONMENT OF COSTLY EVENTS LEADING TO EVENTUAL COMPENSATION. THIS INVENTION SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCES THESE KINDS OF MEDICAL AND COMMERCIAL RISKS.
IN ITS DIFFERENT ARRANGEMENTS THIS INVENTION COMPRISES A STORAGE MEDIUM COMBINING ONE OR MORE OF THREE MAIN ELEMENTS WHICH IN THEIR GENERALITY, SINGULAR OR PLURALITY OF TERM ARE REFERRED TO HEREIN AS; THE STORAGE MEDIUM, THE MIX OR THE TOUCH-PAD.
IN ONE ARRANGEMENT THE DEVICE COMPRISES A STORAGE MEDIUM COMBINING A LAYER, OR LAYERS, OF FORMABLE, PRINTABLE, MATERIAL 5. SUCH AS A CELLOPHANE, ACETATE OR OTHER SIMILAR TYPES OF PLASTICISED OR STANDARD CELLULOSE BASED PAPER OR PAPER LIKE MATERIAL SUCH AS; A POLYART PLASTICISED PAPER, OR A WAXED, OR OTHERWISE TREATED MATERIAL OF VARIABLE THICKNESS INCLUDING BOARD-LIKE MATERIALS OF A SIMILAR NATURE, EITHER FLEXIBLE OR STIFF, AND ONTO WHICH THE MIX IS APPLIED BY MECHANICAL PRINTING PROCESSES TO SUIT THE TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE MIX, THE STORAGE MEDIUM, AND THE PROFILE OF THE TOUCH-PAD DISPENSER SURFACE. IN PARTICULAR, FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS DESCRIPTION AND ADVICE, BUT NOT RESTRICTED THERETO, THE MEDIUM USED IS AS FOLLOWS: A POLYART SYNTHETIC PAPER WITHIN THE FOLLOWING RANGES, A GRAMMAGE OF BETWEEN 2-300 g/M2, A THICKNESS OF 2-300 urn, A TENSILE STRENGTH OF MD 20-40/TD25-35N/MM2, AN ELONGATION AT BREAK OF BETWEEN 125-150 per centum, AN INITIAL TEAR STRENGTH OF BETWEEN 75-125 N/mm, RIGIDITY (KODAK) Mn.M, A DENSITY OF 0.8g/cm3. SAID STORAGE MEDIUM IS SPECIALLY PROCESSED BY RUNNING SAID MATERIAL THROUGH ONE OR MORE SETS OF MALE AND FEMALE ROLLERS OR OTHER SIMILAR MECHANISMS, WHICH MAY OR MAY NOT BE DESIGNED TO PIERCE THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF SAID MEDIUM 5. THIS PROCESS CREATES A UNIQUE SERIES OF VARIABLY SHAPED AND IN PARTICULAR, DEEP INDENTATIO NS, REFERRED TO HEREIN AS THE RESERVOIRS 4.
IN PARTICULAR, SAID RESERVOIRS ARE CREATED AS DEEP ANCHORING RESERVOIRS, AS OPPOSED TO WHAT IS SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS A MOTTLED OR STIPPLED FINISH WHICH MAY PROVIDE A VERY SHALLOW INADEQUATE RESERVOIR. IN THIS INVENTION THE RESERVOIRS CREATED ARE SIGNIFICANTLY AND SUBSTANTIALLY DEEPER AND ARE THEREFORE, ABLE TO STORE A FAR GREATER AMOUNT OF THE MIX ON THE FACE OF THE TOUCH PAD DISPENSER.
DURING PROCESS, ACCORDING TO THE LEVEL, OR LEVELS, AND CONSISTENCY OF THE MIX BEING STORED IS A PEEL-OFF SELF-ADHESIVE BACKING SHEET 1. OF SUFFICIENT STRENGTH AND NATURE IS APPLIED IN ORDER TO PREVENT LEAKING OUT OF THE MIX 2. DURING STORAGE. THIS ALSO FACILITATES THE FIXING OF THE TOUCH-PAD TO ITS FINAL POSITION OF USAGE.
DURING PROCESS A RETAINING LAYER OF SEALANT SPRAY OR OTHER RELEASING AGENT SUCH AS A LAYER OF WAXED OR OTHERWISE TREATED MATERIAL MAY BE APPLIED TO THE SURFACE OF THE MIX 4. IN ORDER TO RETAIN SAID MIX IN ITS APPLIED POSITION AND VISCOSITY UNTIL READY FOR USE. THE PRINTED MIX IS THUS BETTER ABLE TO BE STORED IN POSITION ON THE STORAGE MEDIUM UNTIL SUFFICIENTLY DRY, AND OR SOLID, OR SEMI-SOLID, THUS FACILITATING ITS SAFE STORAGE AND RETENTION ON THE STORAGE MEDIUM UNTIL THE DEVICE IS READY TO BE USED.
IN ANOTHER ARRANGEMENT THE STORAGE MEDIUM USED IS THAT WHICH IS THE SAME AS, OR SIMILAR TO, WH AT IS COMMONLY KNOWN AS AIR-FILLED BUBBLE-WRAP, BUBBLE-PACK, OR SIMILAR MATERIALS OR PRODUCTS OF DIFFERENT TRADE NAMES. IN THIS ARRANGEMENT THE STORAGE MEDIUM IS PROCESSED TO PROVIDE, IN PART, A SINGLE-SIDED ARRANGEMENT OF DEEP OPEN RESERVOIRS OR INDENTATIONS13. WHICH ACT AS RESERVOIRS, IN, ON, OR AROUND WHICH THE MIX IS MECHANICALLY PRINTED ON OR OTHERWISE APPLIED.
DURING PROCESS A SELF-ADHESIVE PEEL-OFF BACKING SHEET 12. IS APPLIED TO FACILTATE IT'S FIXING TO A SUITABLE SURFACE READY FOR USE.
DURING PROCESS, A COATING OF NON-STICK AGENT SUCH AS A WAXED PAPER, SPRAY OR OTHER SIMILAR MATERIAL 20. MAY BE APPLIED TO THE SURFACE OF THE MIX TO ACT AS A NON-STICK, AND OR, PEEL-OFF TOP SHEET OR, RETAINING LAYER, THUS ENABLING THE SAFE STORAGE OF THE MIX UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THE DEVICE IS READY TO BE FIXED IN PLACE WHEN ANY RETAINING MATERIAL IS REMOVED TO REVEAL THE SURFACE FACE OF THE MIX WHICH IS TO BE GRADUALLY DISPENSED BY TOUCHOF HAND, AND OR NATURAL EVAPORATION.
DURING ITS LIFETIME THE MIX IS GRADUALLY REDUCED IN THICKNESS TO REVEAL A REPLACEMENT OR OTHER H IDDEN MESSAGE PREVIOUSLY PRINTED ONTO THE BACKING SHEET OR CONSOLIDATED INTO THE MIX APPLIED TO THE STORAGE MEDIUM.
ALL ARRANGEMENTS USE WHAT IS GENERALLY REFERRED TO HEREIN AS THE MIX, WHICH IS COMPOUNDED AND PROCESSED AS A DRY-TO-THE-TOUCH COMPOUND OF VARIOUS ORGANIC OR INORGANIC SANITISING AND OR OTHER COMMONLY KNOWN DISINFECTING AGENTS, REPELLANTS, PERFUMES ETC INCLUDING; COLOURANTS, DYES,DEODOURISERS, COLOURANTS, GELLING AGENTS,THINNING AGENTS, RE-AGENTS, COLOURANTS ETC EACH OR ALL OF WHICH IS CAPABLE OF BEING PREPARED IN VARIABLE VISCOSITIES, SUITABLE FOR PRINTING AS A VIRTUALLY DRY OR DRY-TO-THE-TOUCH FINISH.
THE MIX MAY COMBINE AN EVAPORATING DEODOURISING AGENT WHICH MAY BE PRINTED ELSEWHERE ON THE DEVICE IN A SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED AREA 18. THUS ALLOWING A PORTION OF THE DEVICE TO BE REMOVED AND USED ELSEWHERE.
DURING PROCESS, THE DEVICE MAY HAVE A SHAPED APPLICATION OF THE MIX IN ORDER TO FACILITATE THE CUTTING OF THE DEVICE INTO CLEARLY DEFINED SYMBOLIC SHAPES SUCH AS A HAND WITH OUTSTRETCHED FINGERS SILENTLY INVITING THE USER TO 'TOUCH HERE' 17.
THE DEVICE MAY FURTHER COMPRISE A MIX WHICH IS OR MAY BE APPLIED TO THE STORAGE MEDIUM BY HEAT OR PRESSURE OR SPRAY OR ANY OTHER PRINTING OR FIXING METHOD.
THE DEVICE IS GENERALLY PLANAR BUT THE MATERIALS USED ARE SUFFICIENTLY FLEXIBLE TO ENABLE IT TO ADOPT THE PROFILE OF THE BODY ON WHICH IT BEARS, IN PARTICULAR DOOR HANDLES, STAIR RAILS AND OTHER FIXTURES OR FITTINGS.
BY USING KNOWN ANTIGENS AND OR OTHER SPECIFIC BIOLOGICAL SUBSTANCES IN THE MIX, THE DEVICE MAY BE TARGETTED AT SPECIFIC TYPES OR STRAINS OF GERMS, FOR EXAMPLE, NOROVIRUS ON CRUISE SHIPS, CAMPYLERBACTER IN RESTAURANTS ETC.
IN ANOTHER ARRANGEMENT SAID DEVICE IS CONSTRUCTED AS A MULTI-FUNCTIONAL TOUCH-PAD WHEREIN DURING PROCESS IT IS USED TO STORE AND OR DISPENSE DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE MIX THEREBY ALTERING AND OR COMBINING ITS INTENDED USE. IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT ONLY FOR EXAMPLE ONLY BUT NOT RESTRICTED TO VERSIONS OF THE MIX CONTAINING KNOWN SUN-TANNING COLOURANTS, AGENTS AND OTHER SUBSTANCES SUCH AS UV-RESISTANT SUN BLOCKING AGENTS, FLY OR INSECT REPELLANTS, ALL OR ANY OF WHICH MAY BE DISPENSED BY A TOUCH OF THE TOUCH-PAD.
IN ANY OF ITS ARRANGEMENTS THE DEVICE MAY COMBINE PROTECTION FROM INCLEMENT CONDITIONS SUCH AS EXTREME TEMPERATURES, RAIN, AND WINDS ETC BY PROVIDING A LIFT-UP, HINGED CLEAR ACETATE, OR OTHER SIMILAR SEMI-RIGID FORM OF FRONT COVER 14. THIS ARRANGEMENT IS CONSTRUCTED BY AFFIXING THE SAID SELF-ADHESIVE BACKING SHEET ATTACHED TO THE DEVICE AND REFERRED TO IN LINES 131-132 ABOVE, ONTO ONE SIDE 19. OF THE DOUBLE-SIDED HINGED 14. COVER, THUS PROVIDING THE DEVICE WITH A LIFT UP COVER 20. TO PROTECT IT BEFORE AND OR DURING USE. SAID HINGED COVER MAY BE TEMPORARILY HELD IN PLACE BY MOULDING IN ONE OR MORE MALE TO FEMALE PRESS-STUDS 15&16.
