Abstract
A quadcopter (not shown) is fitted with a plurality of landing legs or skids. The skids may be moulded from a resilient material such as polyurethane and may be affixed to the body of the aircraft via fixing screws. The skids or runners may have clear sections and may reflect or trap light shining from lights fitted to the body of the aircraft. Other parts of the legs may have an opaque finish and may channel light to ends of the skids. Illuminating the skids is intended to make night time landing of the quadcopter easier. The skids may be wider than the body of the aircraft in order to provide a more stable landing. The skids may flex to absorb shocks when landing.

Description
Illuminated Quad Copter Landing Skids A set of stabilising skids/landing gear comprising of a very durable/flexible moulded pair of polyurethane legs attachment by means of two screws. Clear polyurethane is used for the skids which gives the unit a light reflecting property. The reflection of the light from the LEDs on the quad copter illuminates the legs/skids for night flights.
Claims (2)
- Illuminated Quad Copier Landing Skids Claims 1. A set of stabilising skids/landing gear comprising of a very durable/flexible moulded pair of polyurethane legs attachment by means of two screws. Clear polyurethane is used for the skids which gives the unit a light reflecting property. The reflection of the light from the LEDs on the quad copter illuminates the legs/skids for night flights.
- 2. The design of the skids are wider than the prop motors with an improved centre of gravity assisting in controlled landings for novice and more experienced pilots. Claim 1 -the cushioning effect of any impact on landing means a damped suspension result. The polished windows on the legs directly positioned under the LEDs traps the light and channels it down the skids increasing visibility for orientation acquisition which is important for control/piloting. An opaque brushed finish over the legs and spheres (excluding the polished windows under the LEDs) traps the light and assists with illumination.
