Abstract

A mounting bracket 1 is provided to allow items such as rangefinders, laser pointers and imaging systems (not shown) to be fitted to the bracket located on the stock of a rifle [see figure 1]. Flexible bands or straps 6 may be used to clamp the assembly in situ. The bands may be made from nylon webbing and may be attached to the unit 1 at one end, the strap is brought under the stock of the rifle and passes into tensioning slots [Fig 3, 2] and clamped via screws [Fig 3, 10]. The bracket may have a plurality of rubber mounting strips [Fig 3, 9] attached to it using double sided tape to prevent the bands fouling the straps. Excess webbing may be engaged with buckles 5. A picatinny rail bracket 4 may be fitted to allow accessories to be fitted to the mounting block 1. The purpose of the bracket is to allow accessory fitment without the need to permanently modify the rifle in any way and to avoid contact between the barrel of the weapon and the accessory mount.

Description

Stock mounted accessory mounting block for hunting rifles
Description
Stock mounted accessory mounting block for hunting rifles This invention is relates to hunting rifles to attach a specialised accessory block which is removable and attachable without modification to the rifle itself. The accessory block itself does not touch the barrel ensuring the Point of impact is not affected when shooting.
The accessory mounting block in question can be used to enhance the use of the telescopic sight or attach devices that will aid in hunting. The attachment could be the following * Thermal imaging devices * Night vision imaging aids * Range finding laser modules * Laser pointers * Torches * IR illumination devices * Weather station * Unticant module The addition of the accessory mounting block could enhance the user use of the rifle by the addition of the above devices for hunting at night or sundry equipment in the daytime or night time.
The accessory mounting block could be used primarily to enhance telescopic sight but is not limited to only this application,it may also be possible for a user with traditional open sights to benefit from the bracket in some of the above applications while leaving the rifle unmodified(laser range finder, torch and laser pointers) Thermal image and night vision devices will require the use of a telescopic sight mounted by the accessory block pitacinny rails to enhance viewing in adverse conditions such as night or bad weather.
As shown in figure 1 The use of these devices on conventional hunting rifles is limited, mainly due to the slim nature and the light weight required. However with the technology moving forward the items described the list above have become more prevalent to the mainstream shooter.
Many hunting rifles are highly valued by their owners and modification is not prevalent for the purposes of resale at a later date. This invention allows the shooter to try products previously scope mounted that can make for uneven balance of the rifle and cumbersome in some applications Parts List of accessory mounting block 1. Main body 10. Tensioning screws 2. Tensioning brackets 3. Pin 4. Pitacinny rail bracket 5. Plastic buckles 6. Nylon webbing 7. Spacer 8. M3 Allen screw 9. Rubber strip Fitting of Bracket 1. Rubber strip ( 9) is cut by the user and affixed by double sided tape to bracket on figure 3. This will stop the straps fouling when threaded through tensioning brackets.
2. Unit(1) is placed on rifle fore stock of rifle at desired position.
3. Straps are brought under stock and threaded through buckles(5), then through tensioner bracket slots(2) to be pointing downwards.
4. Straps are then pulled tight.
5. Excess strap material is then threaded through buckles(5).
6. Using Allen key tension screws(10) figure 1) are then tensioned to pull bracket firmly onto rifle stock.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1. A accessory mounting block for hunting rifle which allows user to attach hunting aids without permanent modification to the rifle.
  2. 2. A accessory mounting block for hunting rifle according to claim 1 which is bridging the stock without touching rifles' barrel
  3. 3. A accessory mounting block for hunting rifle according to claim 1 is fixed by use of nylon web strapping (or other material of similar property) to prevent damage to rifle stock
  4. 4. A accessory mounting block for hunting rifle according to claim 1 where tension for straps is provided by a mechanism that can apply and keep the tension necessary for supporting firm fixture of the block to the stock, or can release the tension if the mounting block needs to be removed from the rifle.
