Abstract
There is provided a projectile (100) comprising a solid state actuator (105), the solid state actuator having first and second states. The solid state actuator (105) is configured to activate in response to firing of the projectile to move the solid state actuator from the first state to the second state. The movement to the second state is configured to deform the projectile (100) so as to increase the ballistic coefficient of the projectile. There is also provided a weapons system comprising the projectile (100) and a weapon having a barrel through which the projectile (100) is suitable for firing.
