Abstract

A normally sealed food or beverage container may be fitted with a check or vent valve to allow any excess gas pressure to vent to atmosphere. In order to prevent the escape of any foodstuffs or liquid from said valve a series of weirs or baffles may be located between the contents and the vent valve.

Description
A check valve is fitted to some sealed food and drink packaging to allow gas venting whilst allowing the bag or container contents to remain fresh, This system is to prevent the leakage of a bag or container contents, the worse case being wet fluids, where the egress causes packaging contamination.
A system fitted or embossed into/onto the bag or container to create a weir system to prevent bag contents reaching the valve.
The contents of the bag or container on one side of the system and a valve at the other, weirs with or without orifices in-between. Orifices can have different sizes. A single or multiple weir system of one or more sizes car be used.
(A check valve, clack valve, non-return valve or one-way valve is a valve that normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction.)
