Description

Method for reconstructing a holding opening of a transmission component and jig for reconstructing a holding opening of a transmission component The invention relates to a method for reconstructing a holding opening of a transmission component according to patent claim 1. Furthermore, the invention relates to a jig for reconstructing a holding opening of a transmission component according to patent claim 5.
Transmission components, such as e.g. a transmission housing are often complex to manufacture and thus, in some cases, it may be reasonable to repair transmission components rather than substituting damaged components by new components. In many cases transmission components are damaged due to an inappropriate material combination, such as e.g. steel and aluminium, which differ significantly from one another, especially with regard to their respective coefficient of thermal expansion. Thus, under particularly low ambient temperatures undesirable deformations may occur due to such material combinations.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for reconstructing a holding opening of a transmission component and to provide a jig for reconstructing a holding opening of a transmission component which allow for a particularly easy restoration of a transmission component.
This object is solved by a method having the features of patent claim 1 as well as by a jig having the features of patent claim 5. Advantageous embodiments with expedient developments of the invention are indicated in the other patent claims.
In order to provide a method according to the invention for reconstruction a holding opening of a transmission component, which allows for a particularly easy restoration of the transmission component at least the following steps are conducted: -mounting a jig on the transmission component by aligning a jig opening for mounting the jig on the transmission component with a transmission opening of the transmission component and inserting a fixing element into the aligned jig opening and transmission opening, -guiding a reconstructing tool by means of a guiding element of the jig when approaching the holding opening with the reconstructing tool.
The jig may be designed e.g. as a drilling jig, wherein the guiding element of the jig may be designed e.g. as a reamed bore, by means of which the reconstructing tool can be guided, when approaching the holding opening with the reconstructing tool. The reconstructing tool can be designed e.g. as a combination of a driller and a reamer, which may be driven e.g. by a drilling machine. The holding opening of the transmission component, which may correspond to e.g. a transmission housing element, may be used e.g. to hold a sensor element, such as a travel sensor pin in position. Before guiding the reconstructing tool by means of the guiding element, for example a step of removing the sensor element (such as the travel sensor) from the holding element, may be conducted.
The fixing element, by means of which the jig can be mounted to the transmission component, may be designed e.g. as a centering bolt. By means of the centering bolt, the jig may be mounted on the transmission component in such a manner, that the guiding element of the jig flushes with the holding opening. Thus, the reconstructing tool may be guided safely, when approaching the holding opening with the reconstructing tool in order to e.g. drill or ream the holding opening by means of the reconstructing tool. This allows for a particularly easy reconstruction of the holding opening, which may have been damaged due to the fact, that the transmission component and the sensor element, which may be mounted in the holding opening can be built from different materials, such as e.g. aluminium (in the case of the transmission component) and e.g. steel (in the case of the sensor element). As a consequence a bearing stress due to this unfavorable material combination and due to particularly low ambient temperatures may have been occurred.
By means of this method the holding opening may be reconstructed particularly easy and the bearing stress of the holding opening may be easily repaired.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the jig and the transmission component are bolted together by means of a fixing element. Thus, the jig may be safely fixed to the transmission component and a shifting of the jig during a machining with the reconstruction tool can be avoided.
In another advantageous embodiment of the invention, the holding opening is reconstructed with the reconstruction tool by drilling and/or holding the holding opening with the reconstructing tool. In other words, a diameter of the holding element may be enlarged by drilling and additionally or alternatively by reaming with the reconstructing tool. Thus, deformations of the holding opening can be repaired particularly easy.
In another advantageous embodiment of the invention a bushing is inserted into the holding opening after reconstructing the holding opening with the reconstruction tool.
Such a bushing may have an inner diameter, which may correspond to an inner holding opening diameter of the original holding opening in its undamaged condition. The outer diameter of the bushing may correspond to a diameter, which is e.g. slightly larger than the diameter of the reconstructing tool. If the outer diameter of the bushing is larger than the outer diameter of the reconstructing tool, a press fit can be built by inserting the bushing into the reconstructed holding opening.
The invention further relates to a jig for reconstructing a holding opening of a transmission component, wherein the jig comprises a jig opening for mounting the jig on the transmission component and a guiding element by means of which the jig is capable of guiding a reconstructing tool. This jig allows for an especially effective and fast machining of the holding opening, since the guiding element may be used to guide the reconstructing tool precisely. Advantageous embodiments of the method according to the invention are to be regarded as advantageous embodiments of the jig according to the invention and vice versa.
Further advantages, features, and details of the invention derive from the following description of preferred embodiments as well as from the drawings. The features and feature combinations previously mentioned in the description as well as the features and feature combinations mentioned in the following description of the figures and/or shown in the figures alone can be employed not only in the respectively indicated combination but also in other combination or taken alone without leaving the scope of the invention.
The drawings show in: Fig. 1 a front view on an embodiment of a jig according to the invention, wherein the jig is mounted on a transmission component at present; Fig. 2 another front view on the jig showing a guiding element as well as jig openings of the jig; Fig. 3 a perspective view on the jig, which is mounted on the transmission component wherein a reconstructing tool is guided by means of the jig; Fig. 4 a perspective view on the transmission component, wherein a bushing is mounted to a holding opening of the transmission component; and in Fig. 5 another perspective view on the transmission component, wherein a sensor element is inserted into the bushing, after the bushing has been inserted into the holding opening.
Fig. 1 shows ajig 30 which has been mounted on a transmission component 10. The transmission component 10 corresponds to a transmission housing element at present.
The jig 30 has been mounted on the transmission component 10 by aligning ajig opening 32 with a transmission opening 12 and by aligning another jig opening 34 with another transmission opening 14 and inserting fixing elements 18, 20 which are designed as a bolt at present, into each of the aligned jig openings 32, 34 and transmission openings 12, 14. By means of the fixing elements 18, 20 the jig 30 is bolted to the transmission component. The jig openings 32, 34 are covered by bolt heads of the fixing elements 18, in Fig.1. The jig openings 32, 34 are shown in Fig. 2 and the transmission openings 12, 14 are visualized in Fig. 4 and Fig. 5.
The jig 30, which is designed as a drilling jig, furthermore comprises a guiding element 36, which is designed as a reamed bore at present and which is visualized both in Fig. 1 and in Fig. 2. By means of the guiding element 36, a reconstructing tool 22, which is shown in Fig. 3 can be guided when approaching a holding opening 16 with the reconstructing tool 22. The holding opening 16 may be used to bear a sensor element, such as a travel sensor pin 38, which is shown in Fig. 5. The reconstructing tool 22 is driven by means of a drilling machine 24 (Fig. 3). The reconstructing tool 22 may be designed as a driller or as a reamer or as a combination of a driller and a reamer. Fig. 3 shows the reconstruction of the holding opening 16 (from which the travel sensor pin 38 has been previously removed) with the reconstruction tool 22 by drilling and reaming the holding opening 16 with the reconstructing tool 22. In order to reconstruct the holding opening 16 with the reconstruction tool 22, the latter is moved according to an approaching direction A towards the transmission component 10 and thus towards the holding opening 16. As a consequence, cuttings 40 are built, due to the tact that by means of the reconstructing tool 22 a diameter ot the holding opening 16 is enlarged.
Atter the reconstruction ot the holding opening 16 the cuttings 40 are removed from the transmission component 10 and a bushing 26 is inserted into the (enlarged) holding opening 16 after reconstructing the holding opening 16 with the reconstruction tool 22.
Fig. 4 shows the bushing 26 in a position, in which merely one end of the bushing 26 is inserted into the (enlarged) holding opening 16. The bushing 26 is inserted into the holding opening 16 according to a bushing mounting direction B (Fig. 4), wherein a mounting force is exerted on the bushing 26 in order to move the bushing 26 into the holding opening 16 according to the bushing mounting direction B. This mounting force is needed, since the bushing 26 and the (enlarged) holding opening 16 build a press tit.
Fig. 5 shows an insertion ot the travel sensor pin 38 into a bushing opening 28 of the bushing 26. The bushing opening 28 has an inner diameter, which corresponds to a holding opening inner diameter ot the holding opening 16 in its original condition (betore the reconstruction), which is shown in Fig. 1.
In summary, the invention shows a method and a jig 30 which make it possible to service the transmission component 10, which corresponds to a transmission housing element at present. The reconstructing tool 22 is guided by means ot the guiding element 36 ot the jig 30, wherein the guiding element 36 is used as a driller and reamer guide for enlarging or even tor producing the holding opening 16 for the bushing 26 that may be used to guide the travel sensor pin 38. The bushing 26 may be built from steel, and the transmission component 10 may be built from aluminium, for example. The travel sensor pin 38 is used to indicate, what gear a transmission (which comprises the transmission component 10) is in. in order to do so, the travel sensor pin 38 travels in a bored hole (holding opening 16) in an aluminium transmission housing (transmission component 16).
In cold conditions, the travel sensor pin 38 binds and causes the hole (holding opening 16) in the aluminium housing (transmission component 10) to wear larger. In an embodiment which is exemplified in the figures, the holding opening 16 (bore hole) is drilled out larger trom 10 mm to 11.5 miii and subsequently the holding opening 16 is reamed to 12.0 mm, thus the bushing 26 with an outer bushing diameter ot 12.0 mm or slightly more (to build the atorementioned press fit) and an inner bushing diameter ot 10.0mm can be pressed in the aluminium housing (transmission component 10) in the same location as the original holding opening 16(10.0 mm inner holding opening diameter without bearing stress and before the reconstruction). In doing so, a new bore for the travel sensor pin 38 is created so the sensor will read properly. The jig 30 (drill jig) mounts to the housing element (transmission component 10) using existing threaded holes (transmission openings 12, 14) in the transmission housing, wherein one of the transmission openings 12, 14 comprises an MS internal thread and the other one comprises an M6 internal thread. The jig 30 has a guide hole (guiding element 36) for the repair drill and reamer (reconstructing tool 22) so the new guide hole (holding opening 16 with the bushing 26 mounted) for the travel sensor pin 38 is in the precise location. This provides for an especially effective way to repair the transmission component 10.
