Abstract

A feeding bowl that has a raised arch on the rim of the feeding bowl, the raised arch allows the user to scrape excess food off a spoon. The raised arch allows the user to scrape both the inside and outside of the bowl of the spoon. Preferably the rim of the feeding bowl has a plurality of raised arches to create a wave formation, where the height of the wave is used to scrape excess food from the concaved bowl of the spoon, and the bottom of the wave is used to scrape excess food off the bottom of the spoon.

Description

SPOON CLEANING BOWL
Description
A feeding bowl is used to feed babies and small children. Usually being made of plastic or suitable material so as not to be hazardous if dropped and prevent from breaking. The babies food is put into the bowl to be able to feed the child using a spoon usually or spork.
Baby food in general is sticky in its consistency which helps when feeding small children as it will adhere to the spoon making it easier to hold the food together on the spoon when feeding. When a child eats food from the spoon not all of the food is deposited in the childs mouth which is fine as you generally add more to the next spoonful and repeat the process. The problem arises when after a number of times the spoon has not been completely emptied and food is now stuck to the concaved bowl of the spoon and the underside. Then usually a finger, spoon or implement is used to remove the remaining contents. Due to a spoons complex shape, cleaning food from either the concaved bowl or domed underside is more difficult than say the flat blade of a knife, as being flat allows the user to wipe the excess contents on an equally flat surface. The user can wipe some of the food from the underneath of the bowl on the spoon by wiping it on the edge of the rim of the bowl, however this is not entirely successful as the rim is flat or horizontal and the underside of the spoon radius or dome shaped.
Meaning the actual point of contact between the two is minimal.
The invention of the spoon cleaning bowl' is straight forward and easy to implement. The rim of the bowl should have a dome shape (arch) to match the concaved shape of the spoon allowing the user to wipe the bottom of the spoon clean on the edge of the rim of the bowl using the side of the arch where the rim is horizontal and just starting to form the arch. Then use the top of the arch to scrape the remaining food on the inside bowl of the spoon allowing the contents to slide back into the bowl for feeding.
Alternatively put two arches or domes next to each other on the rim leaving a gap the same width as the spoon. Now you have two arches for cleaning the bowl of the spoon and the u shape created in the middle is perfect for scraping food off the bottom.
The rim may also be manufactured to then be detachable from the bowl for when the bowl is to be used as a normal cereal bowl.
The arch or dome can also have the edge slightly angled towards the inside of the bowl to direct the excess contents of the spoon back into the bowl.
Some spoons from different manufacturers have a flat bottom on the bowl of the spoon. This can be catered for by creating the same shape to the bowJs rim.
Bowls that have a lip on the rim would require a slope from the tip of the raised edge to the point where the side of the bowls starts thus stopping the contents of the wiped spoon from staying lodged on the rims edge The invention is simple, easy to manufacturing and is user friendly.
