Description

AWIG DEVICE
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a wig device, in particular a device for lining a wig; more particularly but not exclusively a device for users wearing wigs for interposing between the user's scalp and the wig.
Background
Increasing awareness of hair styling and hair issues has led to increasing importance placed on users' hair in general, and aesthetics thereof in particular.
In particular many users choose to wear wigs, in cases of problematic hair loss, or in cases of hairstyle changing. In particular many users suffering hair loss due to invasive medical procedures, or users with differing requirements to their natural hair, cf choose to wear wigs.
CJ Consequently wig liners need to be able to accommodate subordinate bald scalps, r 20 partial hair cover, and thick full heads of hair. In particular chemotherapy makes skin very sensitive. r
Wigs are typically held in place by wig liners or caps often of washable, elastic material such as stretch Nylon (RTM). These liners are intended to be light and cool wig and to let users feel confident that their hair is securely held under the wig with no revealing wisps showing. The liners also prevent wig slippage. The liners are configured to affix securely inside any wig to form a protective, breathable barrier.
In contrast the present invention provides a comfortable, secure and adaptable lining device for placing between a headcovering and user.
Summary of the Invention
According to the present invention there is provided a wig device comprising a body arranged to curve in a curved skull axis over a semispherical form from a front edge to a rear edge along side edges, wherein the rear edge comprises an attachment means.
Preferred embodiments of the invention are intermediary devices between the wig or hat and user, and are independently provided and separate. In some further embodiments it may be envisaged that the device may be included a headpiece, hairpiece, headcovering or wig.
Preferably the body comprises woven natural fibre. Advantageously the woven fibre is breathable, comprises natural perforation, absorptive properties, and is friction provoking.
Preferably the natural fibre is muslin. Muslin is a loosely woven cotton fabric. Air moves easily through muslin clothing, making it suitable for hot and dry climates.
Muslin is also commonly used in the manufacture of bandages as it provides a compact yet strong material.
Chemotherapy makes skin very sensitive so use of such a natural fibre aids in (4 embodiments envisaged to be for use with post-chemotherapy users. r 20
In addition or the alternative embodiments of the device can be used for other purposes such as under chef's hat as barrier against synthetic hat, wherein the natural material and properties thereof aids comfort in hot conditions.
Preferably the fibre is woven with a nap diagonally across the skull axis.
Advantageously the nap and weaving thereby interact with the scalp or hair across the skull axis so as increase friction on scalps, hair follicles or strands.
Rougher texture and diagonal fabric nap provide more grip and security of placement with respect to the inside of a wig.
In some embodiments on one, namely in use the external or outer, face of the body there may be provided raised and lowered parts so as to promote texture thereon.
For example rubber or silicone sections, pimples, or ribs may be bonded thereto to aid in securing the wig in place.
Preferably the attachment means deviates the side edges, wherein the side edges are non-continuous. The side edges therefore in use run diagonally alongside the user's head from above to below the ears, approximating a user's hairline and in some embodiments deviating at or near the ears so as to drop round the user's crown.
The rear edge in use gathers the body being of a shorter length than the body's edge, wherein the front edge instead continues the body edge or forms a periphery thereto.
The rear edge comprises an elastic section, wherein the elastic section bounds one side of the pouch, with the elastic section at rest being substantially shorter than the bounds of the pouch, leading to a gathering of material progressively towards the rear edge.
Preferably the body adjacent the rear edge comprises a plurality of temporary or soft pleats. In other embodiments the pleats may be semi-permanent or permanent, wherein the pleats form a concertina effect about the crown in use. (4
r 20 Advantageously this allows different head shapes to be accommodated, wherein the 1 body spreads across the temple and top of the skull until a variety of different crowns may be accommodated with the rear edge reaching underneath and around the crown to contain the crown in a pouch, filling the gathered body.
In addition or the alternative the including differing quantities of hair volume, wherein the pouch expands by virtue of the rear edge accommodating lengthening in use.
Advantageously expansion in the device is accomplished primarily along the rear edge, wherein the remainder of the body does not require elastication, and can consequently be formed of wholly organic materials, conducive to effective skin contact, wherein the device serves to protect the scalp from unnatural fibres. In addition or the alternative the body is not thereby prone to snagging hair, skin or follicles.
Advantageously in addition or the alternative a largely inelastic device provides a constant napped non-slippery surface on the body which aids in maintaining the wig in position.
Preferably the attachment means deviates the axis in use, wherein the attachment means comprises moveable parts. Which moveable parts typically comprise elasticated or flexible sections.
Preferably the edges are hemmed and/or the rear edge includes elastic material sandwiched in its hem, wherein snagging or discomfort is minimised to subordinate hair.
In some embodiments the attachment means comprises an elbow for the band, which elbow may be secured or fixed by a securement mechanism, for example a button, hook and eye, press stud or hook and loop material such as Velcro (RTM).
In other embodiments preferably the attachment means provides that the rear edge is arranged with the side edge deviating from the front edge, so as to create a broken CJ peripheral side edge around the body. r 20
The elasticated rear edge makes it easy to roll hair under the rear edge, compared to conventional wig liners which due to overall elasticity make it very difficult for users with hair to displace the liner locally to contain the hair.
In some further embodiments the attachment means may comprise an elasticated section of the body, or a section of the body proximate the rear edge having elasticated areas or embedded flexible and/or resiliently deformable portions.
In some further embodiments the attachment means may include fixing means such as buttons, press studs, hook and loop portions like Velcro (RTM) or other temporary means to at least in part fix the attachment means and/or rear edge.
In yet further embodiments the body may include multiple layers of material, for example arranged for absorption, comfort and security of wig placement.
In some further embodiments the attachment mechanism may be slidable with respect to the side edges, wherein the elbow may be repositioned in use, for example to accommodate ears, wherein for example a plurality of positions for the rear edge may be envisaged.

Detailed Description of Figures
With reference to the figures there is shown a muslin wig liner device wherein the fabric is all 100% cotton, which helps the user's scalp to breathe. The device is shaped like a bonnet with an elasticated rear edge 3.
The front edge 4 and side edges 2 are not elasticated but are hemmed with bias.
An elbow 6 is where the side edges and rear edge meet, and in the embodiment pictured in Figure 2 a further button mechanism 7 is provided to consolidate the attachment.
The body 1 is gathered at rest by the rear edge.
The device thereby protects the scalp from the lining of the wig creating comfort.
The body is 100% cotton muslin, having edges hemmed with cotton thread, with bias binding and 4 cord flat elastic encapsulated within the rear edge.
In use the device is placed on top of the user's head with the soft pleat at the base, adjusted into position, and the user can then proceed with the wig, protecting their scalp from unnatural fibres such as provided by the wig.
Muslin is the best natural fibre to create air circulation helping the scalp to breathe, absorbs perspiration, and provides a non-slippery fibre to secure the wig down very firmly.
One size fits all head shapes as flexibility is provided in rear edge to fit over the back of a user's head, regardless of size. In some further embodiments variations in size CJ ranges may be accommodated by different elasticities. r 20
The muslin fabric is cut or configured in use with a nap running diagonally to an axis defined between the front and rear edges. This helps to stretch and mould the body in use.
To the rear of the device the body comprises a plurality of soft pleating that is un-pressed or -fixed.
The edges have bias binding in two sections, wherein the first section along the body periphery of the side and rear edges then the second section of the side and front edges across the top of the liner again around the perimeter or periphery.
Finally a four cord flat elastic band is threaded through at the rear edge where the soft pleats are.
The elastic in the pictured embodiments only needs to be the length of 6 inches leaving the elastic to be able to stretch at its full capacity a further 4 inches. In preferred embodiments no buttons will be needed, however in the second embodiment a button is used to secure the shape of the device, or more particularly allow adjustment without disruptive overall movements.
