Abstract

The present invention relates to a rucksack 1 comprising a main rucksack body 10, one or more rucksack subcomponents 20,30,40, and releasable connection means 21,31,41 to connect a subcomponent to the main rucksack body. The subcomponents can be used individually as stand-alone rucksacks. The main rucksack preferable has a removable lining which can act as a separate bag.

Description

TITLE: Novel Rucksack The present invention relates to a novel rucksack, and particularly to a rucksack which has removable additional cornponentls.
According to the present invention there is provided a rucksack comprising: a) a main rucksack body, b) one or more rucksack subcomponents, and c) releasable connection means to releasably connect a subcomponent to the main rucksack body. \ Preferably at least one subcomponent has a removable carrying strap. The carrying strap may be in the form of a pair of back straps to turn the or each subcomponent into a rucksack. A strap may be connected to a subcomponent by a releasable clip.
The main rucksack may have a strap storage device for the or each subcomponent strap. The storage device may be one or more loops of material through which one or more straps can be threaded.
The releasable connection means may be one or more zips, Velcro and/ or other releasable fastener. 1*.
Preferably the main rucksack body has a back, two side, and a front, and a subcomponent may be provided to releasably connect to the front and each side.
Preferably the man rucksack body has a removable liner in the form of a bag. The bag may be releasably connected at its mouth adjacent a mouth of the main rucksack body.
The main rucksack may have raised portions on its back to create airflow channels between the back of the rucksack and the back of a user.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawing.
Referring to the drawing there is shown a rucksack 1.
Rucksack 1 has a main rucksack body 10 with a flap 11 covering the mouth (with drawstring and toggle) 12 of rucksack body 10. The main rucksack body 10 has a back bA, two sides I OB, 1 OC, and a front 101). The main rucksack body 10 has a removable liner (not shown) in the form of a bag. The bag may be releasably connected, e.g. with poppers, at its mouth adjacent the mouth 12 of the main rucksack body. The bag may be used as a useful carrying bag, e.g. for shopping.
The main rucksack may have raised portions 13 to create airflow channels between the back of the rucksack and the back of a user.
The main rucksack body 10 has master straps 14A,14B and a handle 15.
A plurality of loops 16 are provided at the base of rucksack body 10.
Three rucksack subcomponents 20,30,40 are provided. Releasable connection means are provided in the form of zips 21,31,41 to releasably connect subcomponent 20,30,40 to the main rucksack body front I OC, and sides 1 OB, 1OC respectively. Instead of zips the releasable connection means may be Velcro andl or other releasable thstener such as toggle and loop type fastener.
Each subcomponent 20,30,40 has a removable carrying strap in the form of a pair of back straps 24A,24B,34A,34B,44A,44B to turn the or each subeomponent into a rucksack. A strap may be connected to a subeomponent by a releasable male/female clip 40A,40B, When not secured to a subeomponent 20,30,40 the straps 24A,24B,34A,34B,44A,44B can be stored on the main rucksack body by threading them though the loops 16.
In use the main rucksack body 10 can be used with its subeomponents 20,30,40 secured thereto, or one or more of the subeomponents can be removed and not used, or used by a person other the person carrying the main rucksack 10.
It is envisaged that main rucksack body 10 could be sold as a separate item, and subcomponents purchased as and when requüred. The subcomponents may serve different purposes, e.g. they could be waterproof, insulated (to keep goods cold) etc. The invention may take a form different to that shown above. For example more or less than three subcomponents may be fitted to the rucksack body.
Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
