Abstract

A stoma bag securing system that facilitates easier removal and fitment of stoma bags to a stoma bag connector comprising of a bag A and a flange C, wherein the flange has an inflatable/expandable sealing ring E that enables an airtight and secure joint between the flange and bag.

Description

STOMA BAG SECURING SYSTEM
This invention relates to a device that facilitates easier fitting and removal of ostomy bags.
When a person has gone through a colostomy/ urostomy surgical procedure and has a bag fitted patients with limited sight, strength or dexterity may have dificulty in locating, securing and releasing the bags when a change is required. With the system in use at present a second person is often required to assist with the procedureand may not *be readily available, tiis is when the bag capacity is exceeded and accidents may occur The present invention proposes to overcome this problem by using a flange, which is attached to the persons body, to carry an inflatable seal. When a new bag is fitted to the flange the seal is inflated to fan an airtight and secure. joint between the flange and the bag. rZo replace the bag when its safe capacity is reached, deflating the seal releases the presure holding the bag in place enableing removal of the bag.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference. to the accompanying drawings in which Figure I shows flange Figure 2. shows bag Figure 3 shows flange and bag Parts list: A) Bag B) Bag section of seal seat C) Flange D) Flange section of seal seat E) Seal in deflated state
