Abstract

252,652. Seavey, C. L. May 14, 1926. Cans; spouts.-Relates to " emergency " containers for petrol &c. The container is provided with filling and vent neck openings 2, 5, Fig. 2, which are normally connected in a gas-tight manner by a flexible, preferably metallic, tubular pourer member 7 provided with attachment unions at its ends, and serving as a handle for the container. The unions in the form shown are internally threaded and fit external threads on the necks, sealing gaskets 10, 13 being provided to make tight joints. For pouring out the contents, into a motor-car tank, for example, the vent-neck end of the tubing is unscrewed. The tube member 7 may have a wire 14 running through it to prevent undue distention. In the construction shown in Fig. 3 the end of the filler neck 2 is rolled or beaded over at 15 to receive a notched wired edged flange 17 on the connector 16, the clamping wire 19 being adapted to be tightened into locking position against the neck by forcing downwardly a cam clamp 20 hooked thereto. The other end of the tube 7 carries a tapered nozzle 22 having a coniform head 24 adapted to seat in the upper end of the vent neck 5. A threaded union 25 serves to tighten the engagement of the parts, a gasket being dispensed with.
