Abstract

The present invention seeks to provide a kettle that is quieter in use. The kettle comprises a body 10, a pressure seal / element assembly unit 11, a retaining structure 12 and a base 13. The kettle body comprises a flange 14 on an interior surface adapted to co-operate with a seal on the element assembly to form a water-tight lower surface to the kettle body. The kettle is further provided with a retaining structure comprising first and second brackets 21,22 adapted to co-operate with the flange 14 to retain the clement assembly in position. A device 26 may be provided to prevent rotation of the brackets in the installed position. The flange may be provided with cut outs to cooperate with cut outs on the brackets.

Description

Kettle The invention relates to a kettle.

This is particularly so wth the more widespread adoption of underfloor sheathed l-eatv g elements and thick fUn heatnrs This po'ci cc ease has been achieved withn'tt ineieasmg the size of the heatLi so na te apohance does rot need c be made i5rgcr to accommodate a targeT heater. Thus the incrcne hi heating power has led to an increase in the power density applied to the hearer surface. This has, in turn, waddled the process of heat trariafer between hit heater and vatcr By Way of expisnattor, at low power dersines the dtfb "nec n teirperature betweer lire heater surlace and he \\ater is quite low ypica ly 10 deg CI and beat tra',sfei is chieved by eo'wectsoa However, at tee powei densi.ies typically seen in high power water 10 1'catc1s (7980\ trn2\ th.,. difference in temperature betweer th water heater surface and the bulk liquid is increased significantly, and at a micro level results in the fonnation of bubbles of air or steam.
