Abstract
A device for holding a camera at greater than arms length comprising a rectangular block (A, fig 1) that secures a camera by means of a grooved cylindrical vertical projection (7, fig 2) and a detachable telescopic handle (B, fig 1) comprised of hollow cylindrical tubes, which connects to the rectangular block by means of a grooved hollow opening (8, fig 2) in a face of the rectangular block (3, fig 2) perpendicular to the axis of the grooved cylindrical vertical projection.
Description
SELFIE -STICK
This invention relates to Selfie -stick A self-photograph or one's photograph taken by oneself holding the camera in hand is called a selfie. In the recent times people taking a selfie with their hand-held cameras has become an increasing and pleasant activity.
The disadvantage of a selfie is that the camera can be held at its maximum distance of only the arms length of the photographer. As a result the camera fails to include in the photograph wider field around the person taking their own photograph.
When the person wishes to include a wider field around them in the photograph the camera needs to be held further away from the person holding the camera.
The present invention solves this problem by allowing the camera to be placed securely but held by the selfie photographer much further away than is possible to hold it in their hand.

The Selfie-stick consists of two components A and B in the diagram.
COMPONENT A
See Figures 2. and 3 This is base unit of the Selfie-stick. The base unit is to hold the camera securely.
The base unit is a rectangular in shape. It has an upper surface (marked 1), an under surface (marked 2), has a front surface (marked 3), a back surface (marked 4) and two side surfaces ( marked 5 and 6).
The upper surface (marked I) has in its middle a vertical cylindrical projection (marked 7).
The vertical cylindrical projection has its outer surface grooved. The camera is mounted on this vertical projection and held securely.
The base unit has on its front surface (marked 3) a circular opening of a cylindrical hollow that extends in the base unit.(marked 8) The cylindrical hollow whose opening is seen on the front surface is grooved on its inner wall. The hollow is not visible in the diagram but only its opening is seen. (marked 8) The opening of the cylindrical hollow is for inserting the camera end of the handle of the Selfie-stick.
COMPONENT B

The handle of the Selfie-stick has a camera end (marked 9) and the hand end. (marked 10) The handle consists of hollow tubes. The hollow tubes are inserted into their neighbouring hollow tubes and slide on each other making the handle increase (see Figure 4) or decrease its length. (see Figure 5) The tip of the camera end of the handle (marked 9) has its outer surface grooved. The tip of the camera end of the handle is inserted into the opening in the front surface of the base unit (marked 8) which completes the assembling of the Selfie-stick for use.
ASSEMBLED SELFIE-STICK
See Figures 1 and 6.
The camera end of the handle of the Seifle-stick (marked 9) is inserted into the opening on the front surface of the base unit (marked 8). With a twisting movement of the handle will push the tip of the camera end of the handle into the hollow in the base unit which completes the assemblage of the Selfie-stick. The camera is mounted on the cylindrical vertical projection on the upper surface of the base unit (marked 7).
The Selfie-stick handle is held in hand and a self-timer of the camera will take the photograph.
ADVANTAGES
I The camera is held securely on the base unit of the Selfie-stick when taking a photograph with self-timer action of the camera.
2 The camera is held much further away from the seIne photographer and thus is able to include wider field in the seIne photograph thn is possible from only a hand-held camera.
3 Adjustable length of the handle of the Selfie-stick gives a choice of field coverage by the camera lens.
4 The handle of the Selfie-stick is detachable and its length can be reduced by sliding action of the hollow tubes of the handle. This allows it to be carried in a pocket or a bag.
Claims (11)
- I The Selfie-stick has two components A and B as shown in Figure 1
- 2 The Selfie-stick as claimed in claim 1 has a component A which is the base unit of the Selfie -stick that holds the camera securely.
- 3 The base unit of the SeWie-stick as claimed in claims I and 2 has an upper surface, an under surface, a front surface, a back surface and two side surfaces.
- 4 The Selfie-stick base unit as claimed in claims 1,2 and 3 has on its upper surfice a cylindrical vertical projection on which the camera mounts.
- The Selfie-stick base unit as claimed in claims 1,2, 3 and 4 has the vertical cylindrical projection which is grooved on its outer surface.
- 6 The base unit of the Selfie-stick as claimed in claims 1,2,3,4 and 5 has on its front surface the opening of the cylindrical hollow in the base unit.
- 7 The Selfie-stick as claimed in claim 1 has the component B which is the handle of the Selfie-stick.
- 8 The handle of the Selfie-stick as claimed in claims I and 7 has a camera end and a hand end of the handle.
- 9 The handle of the Selfie-stick as claimed in claims 1, 7 and 8 is made of hollow cylindrical tubes that can be made to slide on their neighbouring tubes to increase or decrease the length of the handle.
- The handle of the Selfie-stjck as claimed in claims 1, 7, 8 and 9 has a camera end that is grooved on its outer surface.
- 11 The camera end of the handle of the Selfie-stick as claimed in claims 1,7,8,9 and 10 has on its outer surface grooves which holds the Selfie-stick base unit securely entering into the hollow opening on the front surface of the base unit.
