Abstract

A modular charging system comprising one or more charging modules separable and connectable to each other to form a rack. Each charging comprises a receptacle configured to receive a mobile device and electrical connectors to charge the mobile device. The receptacle is configured to releasably retain the mobile device. The charging system has a base or a wall mounting bracket. The charging modules have interconnectors for providing electrical or mechanical connections between adjacent charging modules.

Description

MOBILE DEVICE CHARGING
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a oharging system for mobile devices and in particular a rack mounted modular system for charging devices such as portable pcint of sale (P05) units, for example.
It should be noted that any feature may be used with any particular aspect or embodiment of the invention.
Brief description of the Figures
The present invention may be put into practice in a number of ways and embodiments will now be desoribed by way of example only and with reference to the aooompanying drawings.
It should be noted that the figures are illustrated for simplicity and are not necessarily drawn to scale. Like features are provided with the same reference numerals.
Detailed description of the preferred embodiments
25. Individual universal rack cradles can be plugged into the racking System by using a custom moulding designed specifically to allow easy plug and play approach.
The universal rack cradle inoudes a custom mould to allow for either Fast Charging or standard Micro USB connector.
Universal rack cradle has been designed tc allow for it to be stacked using a physical connector approach such that the devices can be connected either in a vertical or horizontal manner and desk or wall mounted options. This allows for a one-to-many principle that the consumer can purchase and then add to his charging rack as and when required.
* The rack utilises a specific Male to female physical connector to achieve the stacking system and could be used with: o Micro USB/USB connector o Sprung loaded ball Pins or custom sprung loaded contacts.
o DC Connectors * The device is capable of being run from an intelligent switching power supply located internally to the rack or an external lumpy power supply. Preferably, a single power supply for all cradles.
* The device can also include internal communication options either physically via USE or wireless by integrated wireless or Bluetooth comms module to aiiow for individual device updates or one to one communication with central host systems TED.
The rack can include electronics to manage current and voitage where required.
Many combinations, modifications, or alterations to the features of the above embodiff.ents will be readiiy apparent to the skilled person and are intended to form part of the invention. Any of the features described specifically relating to one embodiment or example may be used in any other embodiment by making the appropriate ohanges.
