Abstract

Headwear in the form of an undergarment or liner comprising padded material is intended to be worn under a head guard when playing rugby. The liner may have a low friction outer surface 1 to allow relative movement of the head guard when worn over the liner. The liner may have perforations 2 and/or may have a ridged inner surface (not shown) to promote air flow.

Description

Under headguard for rugby to be worn under an approved headguard.
Background
This invention relates to the design of an under headguard for rugby.
Rugby is a contact sport and padded equipment is worn by players to reduce the severity and frequency of injuries from impacts with other players or the playing surface. The head in particular can be vulnerable where impact forces are passed to the skull and then to the brain.
Statement of invention
An under headguard for rugby to reduce and redirect impact forces away from the skull of a rugby player.
Advantages The under headguard will absorb impact forces.
The design of the under headguard will allow the approved headguard to rotate over the under headguard and redirect rotational forces away from the skull.
The under headguard will allow airflow over the head which will aid cooling and increase the comfort of wearing an approved headguard.
Introduction to drawings
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to figure 1 which shows the shape of the under headguard from the side.
The under headguard is made from a padded material. The outer side of the under headguard 1 will have a low friction surface which will allow the approved headguard worn over the top to move freely over the surface of the under headguard. The under headguard will be perforated 2 to increase the air flow over the head. The inside of the under headguard will be ridged so that air can flow over the head.
