Abstract

A moulded plastic insert storage device for a vehicle luggage space A moulded plastic insert storage device made from one piece that spans the entire width of a van, car or pick-up and movement is prevented by a precise fit that stops the device from sliding around the boot of the vehicle. The device is removable with two comfortable carry handles and has three compartments intended for the storage of shopping, tools or anything that the user desires. The device prevents the objects from sliding around the trunk of the vehicle. The device preferably has eight holes ready for optional accessories such as an umbrella holder, toy storage, elasticated net to customise the storage solution if requested.

Description

Vanorak
Description
The present invention relates generally to an in-van/car storage device that fits in the boot of vehicles such as vans or cars and more specifically it relates to a storage device for eliminating the problem of shopping or tools from sliding around in the back of vans or cars.
There are other forms of in-car/van storage devices in use. Typically a conventional storage device will feature a bulky swinging hammock/ net, hooks attached to the back of seats or free standing bags that can slide around or fall over spilling the contents.
Some vans/cars may have purposely fitted large bulky metal trays/ storage units in the boot.
While these devices may be suitable for the particular purpose to which they address, they can be unsightly, cause damage to the interior, difficult to remove and not as suitable for eliminating the requirement of stopping the items from sliding around unless at a considerable expense.
Items are not as easily accessible.
With this new invention items are easily obtained without the need for drawers, bags or zips.
The whole device is removable and light to carry In view of the foregoing disadvantage inherent in the known types of in-van/car boot storage devices that are now available, the present invention provides a new storage device construction wherein the same can be utilised for eliminating the requirement of hooks, drawers, zips or nets and prevents objects sliding around the back of a van. At the same time it has combined all the advantages of the current storage ideas so it becomes a fitted easily produced, easily carried non-expensive solution.
The Vanorak is a precise fit to a van or car, it is easily accessed and the device will not slide about because of its precise fit. Different sizes of the same design will be available for different makes of vans and cars.
Since it is made from one moulded piece of plastic no parts will fall off.
The Vanorak has three main compartments in which to store shopping bags, tools and anything that the user wants to carry in the boot of their vehicle. It fits snugly across the boot onto the wheelbase of the vehicle hence the shape. It also has carry handles.
It will have optional accessories available that can be fitted into the compartments by using the screw holes that are already placed in the unit.
Optional accessories available will be items such as an umbrella holder, toy storage and elasticated net all of which can be customised into a personal storage solution.
The features and advantages of the simplicity of the design of this invention will become fully appreciated and better understood when considered in conjunction with accompanying drawings.
Several views are shown to portray the design and angle and the
characters correlate to this description.
FIG.1 is an ariel perspective view looking down on the back of the invention clearly showing all parts.
FIG. 2 is an ariel side view of the invention FIG. 3 is a left side view of the invention FIG 4. is a right side view of the invention FIG 5. is an underneath front and side perspective view of the invention FIG 6. is an underneath back and side perspective view of the invention FIG 7. is an ariel view the whole invention FIG 8. is the front view of the invention FIG 9. is the back view of the invention Turning now descriptively to the drawings in which the characters denote similar elements throughout the several views.
FIGS 1 through to 9 illustrate the Vanorak moulded insert which comprises a design which stays the same but may alter slightly in size to adjust for the different vehicle designs to ensure a snug fit.
These drawings are of the main design element which is unchangeable.
As best shown in FIG.1 the moulded base unit is created out of one part but there is a ridge (a) around the top of the invention.
In FIGS.1, 5 and 8 you can clearly see there are three holes punched into the front of the unit (b), on the middle and either side this is so that accessories can be easily attached if the customer requires it.
FIG 1 and 9 shows the three opposite holes in the back of the unit (c).
FIGS 1 and 2 show an accessory hole (d) at either end of the rear of the invention, again for accessories to be easily attached such as nets, toy holders, umbrella holder etc..
FIGS 1, 2 and 7 show the two handles (e) that have holes in which to grip the unit in order to easily carry it.
FIG 1 of the drawings shows that there are three compartments and the outer base (f) left and right of the invention is all created out of the same moulded insert.
FIGS 1, 8 and 9 show the two gaps (g) either side of the middle compartment where the handles are situated. These handles also serve to segregate the three compartments.
FIGS 1, 2 and 7 best show the view of the left and right back parts of the invention (h).
FIGS 1, 2, 6 and 7 showing best the view of back of the middle compartment (i).
FIGS 1, 3 and 4 shows the side view of the top ridge of the invention (j) best.
FIGS 1, 5, 7 and 8 is a view of the front of the unit (k) shown at its best position. You can see it is a flat surface.
FIG 1 shows the base of the unit (I) which is also a flat surface.
FIG 1 (m) points out the ridge around the invention.
FIGS 1, 3 and 4 shows the slightly curved bottom of each side of the unit (n).
FIGS 1 and 7 best show the left and right back of the unit's curved edge (o) which the moulded curve fits against the wheel arch area in the boot of the vehicle.
FIGS 1, 5 and 6 best show the outer compartments left and right of the base of the unit (p) and FIGS 1 and 5 show the middle of the base of the unit (q) , here you can see that the surface is flat and the handles serve as a ridge to compartmentalise the three sections from each other.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realised that the optimum dimensional relationships for this single part of the invention will include a slight variation in size in order to fit each van, car or pick up perfectly, while the design will always remain the same.
Therefore the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention.
Further, since numerous accessories, modification and changes can readily occur to those requiring a more customised solution, the optional extras have not been included in this basic design.
