Description
STACKABLE CARDBOARD CASE WITH COVER
DESCRIPTION
PURPOSE OF THE INVENTION
The purpose of this invention, as its title sets out, is a stackable cardboard case with cover which is formed from a single sheet of perforated and cut cardboard.
The special design features characterising this invention feature the board from which the case is made, which allows a case that can be stacked to be achieved, which has upper closing covers that can be separated and that, with the covers in vertical position, it forms a crater-shape or conduit to facilitate the filling of the crate.
Therefore, this invention lies within the field of crates or cases made of cardboard from a sheet of perforated and cut cardboard that can be stacked and that have a cover.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
In state of the art, stackable cardboard crates which are designed so as to allow for stable stacking and alignment of crates on top of other crates, without their stability or structural strength being damaged are known.
Crates which have a cover for closing and to protect the goods stored inside are also known.
There are some crates that have the means to stack and close just as those described in patents GB2109343, DE 202010002221 Ui and GB1531235.
However, these crates have aspects which are open to improvement, for example, their versatility in aspects such as the means to improve the filling, ventilation of products inside, or the possibility of removing the covers.
Therefore, it is the purpose of this invention to develop a stackable case with cover which, starting from the known attainments, has a design that improves the process of filling the crate, allows the separation of the covers without affecting the structural features of the crate and achieves better ventilation inside the crate once the covers separate.
In order to achieve these aims, a crate like the one described below and included in its essence in the first claim has been developed.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The present invention provides a stackable cardboard case with cover formed from a single sheet of cardboard comprising a series of lateral sides (1), (2) and (4) arranged one after the other, with the sides (1) and (3) being the end walls, while the sides (2) and (4) are the side pieces, respective sides and ends arranged alternately relative to one another, where respectively flaps (1.1) (1.3) and (1.2) and (1.4) emerge from the lower edge of the end walls (1) and ( 3) and side pieces (2) and (4), which are used to close the base of the crate, characterised in that the upper edge of the end walls (1) and (3) and of the side pieces (2) and (4) have respective central recesses (5) which have two end parts higher than the central part providing a profile and wherein separable flaps (6) emerge from said profile.
The purpose of this invention is a stackable cardboard case with cover, formed from a single board which provides multiple joint functionalities such as those described below: -On one hand, it allows the flaps forming the cover to be unfolded and positioned vertically, forming a crater or access conduit, which facilitates the entry and filling of the crates.
-Furthermore, once the crate is filled, the flaps forming the cover are folded along the fold lines formed therein, leaving the entire interior covered and protected.
-It also allows the flaps to be separated or removed so that the case is formed as a laterally and top open box, so that on the crates being stacked, air can access the inside of the case.
All these functionalities are obtained from a single sheet of cut and perforated cardboard which has lateral sides corresponding to the end walls and side pieces of the case which are arranged alternately and consecutively.
Flaps which are used to form the lower closing of the case emerge from the lower edge of the lateral sides, that is, from the end walls and side pieces.
Separable flaps which are used to fill the case and its subsequent closure emerge from the upper edge of the lateral sides, end walls and side pieces.
In order to achieve the multiple functionalities described for the separable flaps, lateral sides, end walls and side pieces, there are central recesses or notches, defining two end parts higher relative to a central part of lesser height than the ends.
The separable flaps emerge from the upper profile of the recesses made in the lateral sides, having the separable flaps at their joint meet with the upper edge of the lateral sides: -A cut line made on the highest parts of the lateral sides, that is, made on both ends of the recesses, and that when folding the separable flaps by their fold line they leave the end edges of the recesses emerging.
-A perforation line which runs between the ends of the cut lines and, therefore, runs along the base of the recess of the lateral sides, allowing complete separation of each separable flap from its joint meet with the end wall or side piece.
-A fold line which runs from the joint meet point of the cut line with the perforation line at each end of the recess and which is what permits part of the separable flaps to be folded, closing the upper surface of the crate, leaving the end parts of the recesses higher relative to the upper closure surface, being used as a means for aligning the cases in the stack.
Thanks to the features described, a stackable case with separable covers is achieved, which allows the flaps to be folded as a crater in order to form a conduit-shape which facilitates the filling of the crate. A case which can be closed from the top is also achieved, as well as being able to be stacked.
EXPLANATION OF FIGURES
In order to supplement the description being made and with the aim of aiding in a better understanding of the features of the invention, in accordance with a preferred practical realisation example thereof, a set of drawings, in which the following has been represented in an illustrative and not limiting manner,
accompany said description as an integral part:
In Figure 1 we can observe the case which is the purpose of the invention with vertically arranged covers in a crater-shape to facilitate filling.
Figure 2 shows the case closed.
Figure 3 shows the case opened from the top.
Figure 4 shows a stack of cases stacked one above the other.
Figures 5 and 6 show two possible ways of realising the cardboard sheet from which the case which is the purpose of the invention is formed.
Figure 7 shows a detail of the joint meet of one end of the separable flaps with the lateral side.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
In view of the figures, a preferred method for realising the proposed invention is described below.
In Figure 1 we can observe a case such as which is the purpose of the invention and which has the flaps that emerge above the lateral sides arranged vertically, forming a laterally closed crater or mouth-shape, which favours the filling of the box.
Figure 2 shows the case closed from above, leaving the closure surface at a lower level relative to the upper edge of the ends of the lateral sides, which forms some corners for stacking the cases.
Figure 3 shows another possible way of using the case as an open box, both from the top as well as laterally, so that the flaps that emerge from the lateral sides have been removed.
Figure 4 shows a stack of stacked cases, open from the top and laterally, also being able to be cases closed by covers.
Figures 5 and 6 show two possible methods of realising the cardboard sheet from which the case is formed, differing only in the geometry or dimensions of the central recess which the end wall and side pieces have.
The sheet for forming the case is just one sheet and comprises a series of lateral sides (1), (2), (3) and (4) arranged one after the other, with the sides (1) and (3) being the end walls, while the sides (2) and (4) are the side pieces, at their joint meet being arranged alternately relative to one another.
Respectively, flaps (1.1), (1.3) and (1.2) and (1.4), which are used to close the base of the crate, emerge from the lower edge of the end walls (1) and (3) and of the side pieces (2) and (4).
The upper edge of the end walls (1) and (3) and of the side pieces (2) and (4) have some central recesses (5) which have two end parts higher than the central part.
Separable flaps (6) emerge from the profile defined by the central recesses (5) of the end walls and side pieces.
The lateral sides, that is, the end walls (1) and (3) and the side pieces (2) and (4) have a recess (7) at the ends of their lower edge which, once the case is formed, configures some openings in which the ends of the recesses that form some corners for stacking are fitted.
The separable flaps (6) emerge from the upper profile of the central recesses (5) made in the lateral sides, having the separable flaps at their joint meet with the upper edge of the lateral sides: -A cut section or line (5.1) made on the highest parts of the lateral sides, that is, made on both ends of the recesses.
-A perforation section or line (5.3) which runs between the ends of the cut lines and, therefore, runs along the base of the recess (5) of the lateral sides.
-A fold line (5.2) which runs from the joint meet point (5.4) of the cut line (5.1) with the perforation line (5.3) at each end of the recess and which is what permits part of the separable flaps (6) to be folded, closing the upper surface of the crate, leaving the end parts of the recesses higher relative to the upper closure surface, being used as a means for aligning the cases in the stack.
The cut section or line (5.1) has a first horizontal section (5.1.1) followed by a second section (5.1.2) which runs to the base of the recess (5). The presence of the second section (5.1.2) allows leaving the upper edge of the recess above the upper closure of the case, forming some raised projections or corners defined at the ends of the case to allow the cases to be stacked, fitting said corners in the recesses defined in the corners of the case base.
The invention is not restricted to the details of the disclosures set out herewith.
