Abstract

A fastening or mounting apparatus for releasably joining two objects is disclosed. One exemplary object may be a battery, battery housing or case (100), while the other object is a battery tray or other under-the-hood platform (112). One object includes a fastening component having a cam portion (114a) opposite a hook portion (114b), while the other object has a shape insertable into the hook portion (114b) to compress a resilient element (138) and snappable into the cam portion (114a). In the battery application, electrical connections can be made and secured with the fastening apparatus by maintaining surface area contact between electrical contacts (140a, 140b) and (141a, 141b).
