Abstract

The invention relates to a toaster 1 having a heater face 5 with a heating element 6 and a bread slice support member 9 adapted to support a slice of bread Y with a first bread face opposing the heater face. Rotating means 10, 11 rotate the bread slice support member so that an opposing bread face to the first bread face opposes the heater face. Preferably, the bread supports moves away from the heater face via track 11, then rotates and moves back towards the heater face. The heating element 6 may be mounted on a carriage 7 to transport the heating element across the face and the element may make one or more passes across the face.

Description

TITLE: Novel Toaster The present invention relates to a novel toaster.
According to the present invention there is provided a novel toaster comprising: a) a heater face with a heating element, b) a bread slice support member adapted to support a slice of bread with one bread face opposing said heater face, and c) rotating means to rotate the bread slice support member whereby an opposing bread face to said one bread face opposes said heater face.
Preferably the heater face, bread slice support member, and rotating means are provided in a common housing.
The housing may support at least one window to view a bread face.
Preferably the heating element makes one or more passes across the heater face. The heating element may be mounted on a carriage to transport the heating element across the heater face.
An embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing showing a perspective view.
Referring to the drawing there is shown a toaster 1.
Toaster I has a housing 2 with a bread aperture 3.
A heater frame 4 is provided in the housing having a heater face 5 and a heating element 6.
Heating element 6 is supported on a carriage 7 which slides in a track 8 across the frame 4, and hence across the heater face 5.
A bread slice support member 9 is provided mounted on a motor 10. Motor 10 slides along a track 11. Support member 9 is adapted to support a slice of bread Y with one bread face opposing the heater face 5.
Motor 10 and track 11 provide rotating means to rotate the bread slice support member whereby one bread face can oppose the heater faces to be toasted by the element 6, and then the slice of bread can be rotated so that the opposing bread face can oppose the heater face 5.
Todothismotor lOslidesintrack 11 awayfromtheheaterface4,thesupportmemberisthen rotated through 180°, and the motor then slides in track 11 back towards the heater face 5.
The housing may support at least one window 12 to view a bread face.
A lead 13 with plug 14 provides power for the toaster. An on/off switch 15 may be provided.
In use, a slice of bread is passed through the aperture 3 into the bread support member 9. The heating element first makes one or more passes across the heater face 5 so toasting one face of the slide of bread. The bread support member 9is then rotated so the other face of the slice of bread is opposing the heater faces. The heating element then makes one or more passes across the heater face 5 so toasting the other face of the slide of bread. A user can view one side of the slice of bread through window 12 and allow sufficient numbers of passes of the heating element to obtain the desired lever of toasting.
The invention may take a form different to that specifically described above. For instead of the motor sliding in the traclç the bread could be spaced further away from the heating element and rotated by the motor with the motor having to slide in the track The bread could be rotated verythstsoitlooksasthoughitisstilL Further modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMSA novel toaster comprising: a) a heater face with a heating element, b) a bread slice support member adapted to support a slice of bread with one bread face opposing said heater face, and c) rotating means to rotate the bread slice support member whereby an opposing bread face to said one bread face opposes said heater face.
  2. 2. A toaster according to claim 1, wherein the heater face, bread slice support member, and rotating means are provided in a common housing.
  3. 3. A toaster according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the housing supports at least one window to view a bread face.
  4. 4. A toaster according to any preceding claim, wherein the heating element makes one or more passes across the heater face.
  5. 5, A toaster according to any preceding claim, wherein the heating element may be mounted on a carriage to transport the heating element across the heater face.
  6. 6. A novel toaster substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
